What I don't get about the wee green squares is this T.j has 2 green squares and Darren Grey has 3 but they both have a spectacular aura about them. Surely if you have more boxes you should have a higher rating?

The text doesn't directly tie into the number of green squares... seems, from above, the "aura" thing comes in at 150, I suspect the third square comes in at 200.

This is how it's configured as standard, It can however be edited and the levels and title changed, I get the feeling that the forum's leves are still set at standard though.

The Green bars system is set differently.

Add one point for every 365 days since you joined the forum.
Add one point for every 1000 posts you have on the forum.
Add one point for every 1000 rep points you have already.
You require 125 posts or more and 50 reputation points for the reputation you give to count as positive or negative.

Again this is the standard settings.

You have to give reputation to 20 people to get back around to someone you’ve already given reputation to.

The green squares show you have positive reputation, while the red shows negative. Bright green and bright red mean higher values of positive or negative. The most you can get in either direction is 11 squares, 5 dim and 6 bright. You can get more and more reputation, you'll still stop at 11 squares.

There is also a grey square that you will see in your User Control Panel, where you can view recent reputation left for you by others. If you see a grey square that means that whoever left you rep, but they don't have enough power to give anything more than a big fat zero.

There is also a black square for disabled rep, but currently only mods/admin have the choice.

Jings, crivens and help ma boab! I thought it would take a long time to reach Elite but surely reaching "has a reputation beyond repute" is impossible

Please, don't mentione getting to elite on the forum. :D Thats a whole new ballgame...

Can the rep cycle of 20 get shortened down? It seems rather restrictive.

Also I seem to only be able to see the last 5 reps I've received - is it possible to see them all?

woah it took a while for the Re Tart thread to pop up.. lol

I never pay heed to Rep its sooo unimportant ..

*looks around for Listeri.... YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH BOY!!!*

no i'd never beg for Rep... but if you pity me.. I'll take it!

The rep system was a useful way to judge the reaction to News on in-system travel, and I suspect it let people indicate their opinion without derailing the actual conversation too much. Then again, I got the same net increase in reputation by posting a stupid joke a few days later

I'd largely stopped trying to award rep, as everyone I clicked on already had some. 20 people does sound like a lot, but TBH it's less than I thought so might nudge me to start trying again.

Clicking the
reputation.gif
on your own posts shows the amount of rep you've received for that post. That suggests the data is still in the system, but I would like a way to go back and see it properly.

If you are struggling to work out how to give rep.

This could help.

Honest it will.....

Honest...:D

Haha now you're just inviting everyone to disapprove :D

But on that note, i kind of regard this rep system like achievements in games - they don't really add to your experience and may even distract from the actual game, making you lose focus of the fun and immersion (if there actually is any - some games use achievements to distract from it just being a bad game i feel). And you don't gain respect here by the amount of rep points you amass, people won't remember those. They remember if you're a decent participant or not. Lucky you, T.j. ;)

You mean a bit like your post count a few weeks ago?
Yes! Exactly like that!

In fact, can you set my rep to -9999 now? I want to look totally badass! Let everyone know the sort of Psyko they are dealing with.

(Don't mention Psyko. I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.)

When I rep from my tablet the google keyboard doesn't let me type in the message field. So most of my repping is a bit taciturn.

Be careful what you wish for.
