The Prime Minister of the New Zealand, declared on Monday that it was high time to banish from the national flag, the Jack union which symbolizes the former British colonizer.

The Union Jack in the corner is a rather bland and over-used template. And kind of embarrassing when it's virtually identical to the flags of similarly uninspired countries and worse, those of many service departments of the UK. Not much of a statement of national identity.

Banned? Gosh, is there need to be so drammatic? A referendum has been proposed to change it to some thing like this:

I think it's about time for them to get rid of the Union Jack but guess Kiwi's should tell us what they think about it

Last time the Australians had a similar discussion, a reporter there went arund Sidney, asking people what they think should replace it.

The best comment was from a young guy who suggested a Picture of a Big Bum, with a Fist coming out of it!'

Viper skins

Is it just me or are the flag based Viper skins no longer available? I went to grab one a few days back and couldn't locate any of them.

they were ment to be a one off limited time and then they did a half price sale on it so it may just come up again.

I pretty sure this was brought up on the forum with a complaint about the nature of exclusiveness, They basically apologised and said it won't happen again. So I doubt they will be up again. Maybe on other ships though.

I was lucky enough to grab a German flag, you can't beat having a pirate ship with skulls and a big German flag on it in a British game....

Number 9 - Fiji removed the Union Flag/Jack (Despite people who argue that one term refers to Navy ships, they are wrong.) a few weeks ago.

Why shouldn't any Sovereign state choose their own flag....Apparently New Zealand chose their flag originally after consulting the aboriginal Maori! Australia's Flag came later

Unfortunately having the Union jack in your flag doesn't mean you are part of the cool 'British Empire club' but more likely means your indigenous people were originally invaded and oppressed and owned by the British Empire.

Now don't get me wrong, as a graphically pleasing image I love it, but I'm biased (being a Brit.)... I am also strangely drawn to the Basque flag
