Thats it, the final straw, so long to a old friend...

...My xbone controller is out of there, elite needs a hotas and its coming tomorrow.

The funeral for my old controller will be just after my hotas arrives, there will be a few words just before its drop kicked into the canal.

:D

I tried a HOTAS joystick, and went straight back to my xbox controller. Far more efficient for me personally.

I have always played flight and space sims with joysticks. The efficiency is debatable but the immersion is much better for sure. In this game it's even more evident specially when the controls in the ship look almost identical to my X52 Pro

I tried the gamepad at first, but it is very uncomfortable to me. Just switched to the very unpopular dual Joystick setup. I feel good with it.

Yeah, I noticed that a while ago, very similar.

The xbox controller has no way of doing a hands on analogue throttle + pitch, yaw, roll and fire, that's really needed imo.

I used a game pad for a few months and got really good at it. Then bought a stick and sucked at using it.. but now the stick plus a throttle (bought latter) makes it so much better and makes it feel like your flying it. its the right move

The value of a HOTAS is directly proportional to the complexity of a sim. Perfect example is War Thunder. Just about everyone in Arcade uses a mouse or PS/XBox controller. Everyone in Full Realism is using a HOTAS.

You'll really enjoy the freedom it gives you, once you get used to using it.

Let us know how it turns out. Hotas has been on my radar but I just can't quite pull the trigger because I'm still overall on the fence about where ED is headed.

Mine does. Having no problem whatsoever. Just remap a few things. The only thing you will lose out on is two thruster vectors which will need kb input.

If you got an X52 Pro, save the box and packaging. You're probably going to need it for the inevitable RMA.

Best advice so far

I'm waiting for mine to arrive back for the second time (actually an X55 not X52 - I misread that the first time)

Been using a T16000 in the meantime and am now considering keeping it and just adding the CH throttle.

Although I do really like the X55 so I'll give it another go

He must have had one serious p**n habit.

Nope, he has one serious "I like to break and burn things" habit. He made clips of himself throwing a fireaxe through old windowpanes, one regular, and one with the axe on fire.

My favourite invention though was the acoustic guitar case he turned into a multiple bottle rocket launcher. :D
