Explorer humble feature request to DEVs :)

Hello FDEVs, i would like to request, suggest or petition to add some of these features if possible of course.

It would be nice if some of these features could be added to the game in future patches. i believe some might be more complicated than others, but it would be definitely nice to eventually have them :)

1. A system Map keyboard shortcut :) -specially this one :p :D

2.Body Scanner Progress Bar-ish
A sort of progress bar for the exploration of celestial bodies. When scan is finished the shape will be complete.

3.Queue tags
Multiple celestial body tags, to organize your exploration path in-system

4.Exploration Filters
Some ideas to help track explorer data within the galaxy map.

thanks in advance

The following are suggestions by other commanders in the thread :)

1-Secondary Route plotter, used for alternative routes or detouring from main one.

2-Manually plot way-points

3-Auto-plotter Affected by filter

4-Route Saver

5-Consistent Routes after exiting the game.

6-Editable plotted route without having to reset it from start.

7-Route Target separate from in-system celestial bodies. ( selecting a planet will not remove the rout target)

8-Prioritize Selected target system over default distance sort **

9-Cluster belts with distinctive icon or name " Unexplored Cluster" to distinguish from bigger celestial bodies.

10-Target planets from System maps

11-Save view for Galaxy map . IE : ctrl+1 show saved camera location in galaxy

12-Electromagnetic Spectrum Filters for the Cockpit :ie Ultraviolet, x-ray,gamma, etc.

13-Show the number of Remaining systems in route.

14-Show Collected cartographic data currently in ship.

15-Unexplored frontier systems not to be called Anarchy since there is none there.

16-Extra information while using the detailed surface scanner.

Excellent list, +rep for you.

All I can think of to add would be additional route plotting filters, such as do not plot systems with more than one star or avoid unscoopable stars or maybe only plot through systems with a specified aelection of star types.

With no means to manually plot waypoints over any distance, and the fact that itd be a nightmare for anyone trying to do sobover any significant distance anyway, explorers are currently stuck either having to manually select each individual jump in turn, or have to place their faith in an autoplotter that is very possibly going to dump them in a dangerous system that burns up their ship on entry or leaves them stuck in the wilderness with no reachable fuelling options.

I know you can filter by star type in the view options, but as far as I'm aware, the autoplotter doesn't use those filters?

We need a better route plotter, something that allows us to set a destination, and then allows us to go back over our route and plot detours for stars that provide fuel or if there's something interesting you want to check out along the way without losing your original destination and having to mark it again. Also we need to be allowed to plot our routes in various intervals. For instance, you may want to visit Sag A on your way to the other side of the galaxy, so one leg of the journey can be plotted to Sag A and the last leg of the journey can be plotted to a star on the other end of the galaxy.

But first and foremost, I just want the damn route planner to remember the routes I set when I leave the game. That would be really nice; a small gesture on FD's part that would go a loooooong way with the fans.

And I love your ideas, Genxav. Explorers unite! :D

i didnt even know there Dangerous Suggestion Forum haha. Ill add some other ideas i have pending to the list. Keep Supporting and bumping :D

+1. Would be welcome additions for explorers. I could imagine something like Queue tags being really nice in an orrery view where you could better visualise your plotted route through the system.

Listen closely to the scanner sound. You can hear how long it's taking to finish to scan.

That would certainly be useful, but probably won't be possible: I remember having seen a developer quote where he said that many of these data aren't stored and hence not available. (If you think about it, that's reasonable: for instance, the list of visited stars for all playerswould balloon quickly to enormous sizes.)

This... I'd pay a £5'er for that as an add-on. The ability to drag a pre-plotted route to interesting systems without the whole route being lost.

1. Yes
2. Not that bothered
3. Yes
4. Yes
5. Would be nice to select a planet from the system map, this was mentioned for 1.2 but is not in yet.

I might be being thick and there is a way for doing this already (fingers crossed) but one that drives me mad is I plot a long route, I jump to the 1st system , scan the first object and then have to go back to the navigation screen and reselect the end destination of my long route in order to be able to do the next jump – am I missing a trick?

It drive me mad that I can’t have a jump destination “permanently” set and also be able to scan local bodies without having to re-plot my course.
