[NOOB ALERT] You know when you're too tired to play when...

You inadvertently knock the Silent Running button on your HOTAS on leaving a station and have forgotten which button it's bound to. So you kill engines and in a blind panic remember that on the keyboard they're defaulted to the Ins-Home-Page Up-Del-End_Page Dn keys area.

You then think it'll be be a good idea to try each one in turn to switch Silent Running off, forgetting that one of those is bound to Jettison All Cargo!

Don't worry.... You're kindly reminded when fine notifications start appearing for the 83 tonnes of assorted Rares that are being slung out of your hold by the cheap cargo handler you pick up whilst stopping over in Tanmark. Clearly the side effects of Onion Head are a lot more severe to the clear judgement of the mind than first thought. Needless to say, the cargo handler had his contract terminated immediately after the last canister floated past the cockpit window!

So currently sitting in the station after having paid my 12k fine and having unbound the Jettison All Cargo key!

At this moment in time Elite: Dangerous has become Elite: Suicidal :D

Guess you live & learn.

On the plus side.... I've increased my jump range for a short while :p

At one point i felt asleep when trading with Type 9... I was woken by the sound of tortured metal and explosions, as the ship hit the station wall... true story, over 10 mil loses. So, if you are tired, take a nap.

AV default for silent running is something like "close vents" I've not idea how I came close on TS with friends, but I must have said something similar, with vents closed (thanks VA) and temperatures rising I did truly sweat as I feverishly looked through the control panel to turn the off.

Finally caught it at 62% hull.

Boost into a station on the way out because you forget your ship handles differently fully laden and you can't flick up through the letterbox..bye bye birdy

When you wake up, head craned back, mid-snore and think "What the buggeration has happened to me roof?" because all you see is stars.

Then you realise your Rift is holding half-a-pint of sweat in because your PC is blasting hot air at your legs while you slept.

[Baymax]Oh, no.[/Baymax]

Have some rep for that, OP!
I jettisoned all cargo once. Inside the station, during P.Beta testing. I immediately unbound that stupid key too!

and...
You know when you're too tired to play when...
...you're making 3-stop trips, earning credits like crazy when you realize you just hyperspaced back to the station you'd just left. Yet didn't realize it til you docked. :)

I'm reading this thread now because I just decided the last journey felt it took ages and I felt like falling asleep whilst gripping the throttle in the hopes that my brain would automatically de-throttle and de-supercruise when I arrive at the station. Decided to call it a night after a final safe dock. Have some rep OP. :)

Haven't lost any ships yet or made any significant errors luckily.

One night after forgetting to request docking twice in a row, each time leading to having to make a quick exit through the mailbox (was in a T6 at the time, working my up towards the Asp, so that was... interesting), I figured that was a sign that I shouldn't keep on playing lest something worse happen.

!

Yesterday, after reading stuff about FOV and FPS toggle in this forum, I decided to launch the game again after a 3 or 4 weeks break. While in the outfitting hangar, I remember to try the FPS thing (ctrl + F). And decide to try random combinations, to see what they'd do. Not much.

I load up on Palladium (436T -> 8M) and take off. Standard gear off + boost just after the letterbox, I notice my temperature is abnormally high... , weird, did I change my power plant by mistake ? It keeps climbing, I have no idea why, 130, 140... I haven't played this game for around a month and have no idea what's happening, I start to panic (rebuy cost : 12M, cargo : 8M) and hit the escape button. Warning window I've never seen before : "your ship is in danger and will stay 15 seconds blabla, do you want to continue ?" YES I want to continue. I frankly click on the dam thing but nothing happens, the game would not quit. I open and close this dam window.... 180% heat, 195% heat... omfg.

And suddenly it strikes me. Silent running they call that. Isinona showed it to me. I once bound this thing somewhere around the "," key. And... yes, it's still there, and it does the trick. Phew...

I accidently jettisoned 100 superconductors after leaving a station when I thought I was raising the landing gear. The button was number 11 and landing gear was number 12. I managed to scoop about 18 of them back before they all drifted away and I was too tired to care about the other 82. I was fined 200 cr for each one of the 100 because I had just left the letterbox. That was a bust! I quickly unbound the jettison cargo key. I guess the only way a pirate is going to get it is to blast me out of space.

Many thanks for sharing your Noob/Panic moments Commanders, some really brought a smile to my face.... Sorry :D

Glad I'm not alone!

Regards

Had one of these moments, hitting boost at close range to out maneuver a pirate Lord, I was in a viper... at least until I felt the cold vacuum of space all around me! Crunch!

VA normally tells you Flight Assist is on or off so you've turned the computers voice alert off.
You brush the FA off key accidentally then try docking and wonder why your ship is suddenly very agile and doesn't seem to want to fly in the direction it's facing. You spend two minutes trying to find out if the lateral thrust key is stuck down before realising the problem. Too tired to realise no ship I have ever flown in this game turns that quickly and responds that well to a slight twitch.

I have never done this and have no idea what you are talking about.
