Do you even Type 9 bro?

Please excuse the silly thread title, I just wanted to express how much I adore the type 9.
.
I acquired it last night and after some hairy 'on the edge of insurance' moments; I am loving the way it feels to fly! This is how all freighters in space should fly!
.
Anyone else been this surprised and pleased when they first stepped into the big beast?

P.S. does this forum need more sections like one for ship discussions?

I really enjoyed it at first.. Felt like flying a huge capital ship should feel. But once I got to about 20 mill left to an Anaconda, I was so sick of it, not sure I'll ever go buy one again.. I had to buy a maxed out for speed Eagle to fly once in awhile just to bring back my sanity.

Can't wait to try the T-9! I'm moving up from my T-7 to a Python today. It's going to take a bit before I get it all fitted the way I want.

Nope, flown mine twice, awful handling, so I sold it immediately afterwards. After calculating the time it needs to reach Anaconda assuming I play 2 hours a day, a T-9 will get me there a whopping 2 hours early vs a Python. So yeah, worst ship in the game by far...

Worst ship in the game by a large margin

Edite: beaten to it, t9 makes an anaconda feels like riding a bike

Just went from a T9 back to a python. Not because i had to. I can't stand flying the T9. I can just tolerate the Python. I'd honestly be in a clipper again but the Python is the best balance between fun flying a trading. And I'm too close to a Conda. The T9 would need to carry 750 tons of cargo before I'd step back in that godawful whale.

It's like a snail, crawling through a whales spit, swimming in molasses.

The Type 9 is my end game ship, this is my Mecca. Not sure I will ever get bored of it, but then I won't be grinding in it too much as I have no desire to fly the anaconda.

That's my next logical ship, what cargo space (shielded) do you get ?

Not 100% on the full details, the cargo is over 500 though I am working my way up at the moment. The elite wiki hold all your answers.

I tried the Python and really couldn't get into it, I actually prefer the type 7 to the python.

I liked it at first but later got to hate it. Spent most of my time apologizing to other cmdrs when docking. After about a week I traded it in for a Python, haven't looked back.

T9 is my Favorite ship in game although I'm having a blast in a Python right now. No arcade physics in the T9 like some of the smaller ships, you have to think ahead when in command of this beast. Make sure you stick at least D7 thursters, the best distributor to give constant boost, and learn to master Flight assist off, you can drift it around like nobody's business. Takes a while to master it.

After a few trade runs, my leg muscles feel like they have had a workout from controlling yaw and lateral thrusters through my pedals :) Type-9 should be like the Yorkie bar adverts 'It's not for girls'

Oh, and 500T cargo & 64T tank isn't too bad either, probably around 2000LY range in ECON mode :) got me to a Anaconda and bunch of other ships in no time.

EDIT - and yeah, this forum does need other sub forums, especially an explorer forum. Getting sick of all the whinging around here..

500 tons with shields 532 without. minimum shielding is class 5.

ALSO.. You want AT LEAST 35 million over the purchase price. Or you're going to have a bad time.

What kind of shields and what slot do you put them in for the Python? If you use the slot 4 you lose 16t, if you use slot 3 are the shields as good?

Python? Mine is not a trader, I trade in either an Anaconda or T9... T9 500T, Conda 400T. My Python shielding is maxed out

Got a T9 T6 and a python the T9 is for getting me the big money and love the way it fly's T6 for the more dangerous jobs and the Python for showing off .:D

Yep, i'd say 110 million at least for a T9, and you want the highest FSD, and highest Distributor, you will be using the boost function constantly... I have a Voice attack macro to apply 3 or 4 boosts in a row on my T9.

Well my Python trading days was pre-nerf. I actually bought it after the nerf announcement, but thanks to the Performance Enhancer boom, I managed to gain enough profit to buy a trading Anaconda outright. It handled like a Cobra so it was miles better than T-9.

No the shields aren't as good class 3 vs 4 but 3A shields are good enough for a trading python. also suggest getting a class 4 scoop. Unless you are making 1700+ a ton. anything under that and the scoop offsets fuel cost better than the 16 tons of cargo. I've done the math :p

I love the Type 9, she may be a whale, but she sings to you and is alot of fun to fly. Very much a patient Commanders ship, she needs some thinking about and gentle coaxing to get the best out of her. I traded down to a Python last week in preperation for wings.. needed to focus on my non existent combat skills, while still getting some trading in. I will likely get another Type 9 at some point, unless the Clipper turns up in game before then.
