Fer-de-Lance & Vulture Specs

I played with both ships for about half an hour with all the mods I could find in my local system. Finding 5 and 6's can be tough. Coming from the Asp I was expecting to like the Fer De Lance best and wasn't interested in the Vulture. Surprisingly I found myself taking to the Vulture more. The FDL felt more like my upgraded asp and a bit slower to manouver than I had hoped. The Vulture was pretty nice handling. I only had fixed C3 pulse lasers which made small work of small ships but struggled with the hulls of larger ones, especially with the limited availability of power distributors.

I had a lot more interdictions by sidewinders and eagles that initiated the interdiction but ended up bringing buddies along with them. One sidey had two more sideys to back it up, easy kills. An eagle had a federal dropship come up behind it. Vultures shields stood up well but my lasers kept running out of juice and the drop ship eventually escaped with about 30% hull left.

I think I will like the Vulture a lot when I can find the mods that allow better management. If hull damage doesn't cost too much it might replace my cobra as my more expensive bounty hunting combat ship. While the 2.5m Viper is my disposeable high intensity ship. My asp does most things except interdiction well and I'd like to think that the Vulture might take the place of the combat cobra.

I guess like everyone else, I'm waiting on the price to decide. I didn't want to like the Vulture, I's ugly and boring to look at, but it does fly nicely :)

^ you win all the rep.

My god huge + 4 medium, more firepower than i expected. 6 Utility mounts (which can fit shield boosters now too).

Can the class 5 power unit handle all that?

I've upgraded to A rated. And with beam/3xMC's/Rail/+3 shield boosters i'm at 103% but NEED an A rated power plant. B rated can't do all that. But with an A rated Distro, 4 pips on weapons means that ALL weapons can continually fire without training the power cell.

I like it after a few hours of flying it. Its ugly and utilitarian and turn on a dime for its size.
The Fer de Lance seems overpriced and wayy too posh for my cup of tea. Its a sissy ship :p
Still tuning the Vulture to find the best combo. As with all ships, stuffing it with A class does not necessarily give you the best set-up.

I hadn't tried the Dropship before, being Alliance and all, and I liked it alot too!

Someone post vulture shipyard screenshot. Would like to know its speed, shield, armor stats.

Also, 4 FDL wolf packs gonna be worst nightmare for any Anaconda, even max specced.

But wing of 4 anacondas will be something to not mess too

2 pythons and 2 ferdies will cut em to ribbons...anaconda cant ignore pythons so the ferdies put out the dinner bell

I'm alone to think Vulture is a bit to less and FDL a bit to much ?

You are probably right.
However, I am now trying the FDL and it is a DREAM. I take back everything I said.
If I don't get it as a freebie ship when the Beta goes live, I will be grinding away to save my pennies for it.
I stand corrected.

Likewise, I'm already hauling out the trader and dropping the combat ship to start making money for the ferdl...

Am I the only one who doesn't like the Vulture? It doesn't seem to have any resemblance to the Eagle (I don't see any design cues from it).

Also why do all the new ships get winglets? STOP IT!

Embellish as much as you want, but for the love of god stop putting wings and stabilisers on the ships.

Why should a Vulture resemble an Eagle?

Does a Vulture has winglets?

Only two ships have winglets and these are an Adder and FDL both manufactured by Zorgon-Peterson.

May be winglets and stabilisers are in place as all ships are meant to be capable of atmospheric flight?

Whole pricing needs an overhaul.
The incentive to actually save for anything in this game is just not there.
Casual players never get a look in.

Thats a weird statement when more then half of the ships available is under the 10 million mark.

What would u suggest 100 credit ships?

Hauler, Adder, vulture, FdL, drop ship, orca have winglets and the asp has stabilisers.

The whole 'atmospheric flight' crap doesn't work either. The wings are too small to produce any lift. Besides, energy is practically free, we just have unlimited thrust to keep us aloft. As for stability we have planes which dont require them.

So tomorrow we find out just how expensive the FDL really is, hope it's not too far above my price range

I will have to do some serious work to raise the funds.

I didn't care for the Vulture till I flew it. Prefer it to the Fer de Lance actually. Wasn't expecting that.

It's not about its flight model, it's about ship design and whoever is doing the design obsession with adding pointless wings.

There was a lot of spiel about function of the ships - what function do the wings provide?
