Newcomer / Intro Any point to scanning asteroids?

I remember reading that asteroids don't net you any creds for being scanned. Is this true/ever fixed. I'm out exploring now and it would really save time if there was no purpose to scanning these 12 instance asteroid fields. Also, suggestion, if there is no inherent value why not have scanning 1 reveal them all if they are part of the same belt?

You get ZERO credits

Suggestions like this need to be listened to...but ED seem to pour unlimited resources into updates like 1.2 and zero on fixing base issues from the release software... fix the crappy mining mechanic

... BEFORE more features like Wings........

There's nothing to fix, you don't get paid for asteroid belts, it's that simple. You have a choice, scan them or don't, I do because I like my map to be complete but I know I'm not going to get anything for it. I really don't understand the "if it doesn't work the way I want it to it must be broken" mentality. I hope that someday Universal Cartographics will value that information enough to pay me for it, at this point they don't.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you don't even get a credit for scanning them either do you? I mean like if you were the first to scan them.

I always skip them but it becomes a pain when you have a 45 astronomical bodied system and 32 are asteroids and you have to click on each one on the nav panel and look at the little graphic to find the planets...

Ah, but if I don't scan them first time, every time, then my OCD kicks in and sometimes I have to get up in the night and go back and scan them!

Flying precisely.

I used to have that same problem, but I got over that problem on my first multi-week long exploration trip.

Exactly why I'm asking, after day 4 saying, "I'm going to scan everything!" Now its, "I'll scan one if it's metal rich or metallic just to see if it's pristine."

I just scan them all because I have to, not sure if it's OCD or the way I was raised, "The jobs not done until the shop floor is swept and the tools are put up."

I know some people tested this a month or two ago and worked out that you get nothing for asteroids but has anyone checked more recently? I only ask because I spoke to someone over the weekend who insisted he was getting something for them (not a lot but something). Maybe there has been an update to change how this works?
