[crazy suggestion] Xbox version: play now! :)

Hi all, I've read with great joy about the announcement of an Xbox One version of DE.
As someone that spent in space great part of his digital life (Elite & Frontier on Amiga, Frontier and FE on PC) I couldn't have received better news. Too bad my desktop computer is not powerful enough to play DE in an acceptable way and I've switched to consoles for games since a few years ago.

I'll surely be in first row to but the Xbox version when it will be ready but I'm here to give a little crazy suggestion to DB, in the hope he could give it a thought. :)

Since ED is an online only game, I guess all is related to an online account. So, why not allow future Xbox users to buy the game today? It will bring money for development now, and surely this will help in a lot of ways.

I explain it better:

- I pre-buy an Xbox license and I receive a PC key.
- I play on PC until Xbox version is ready.
- At that point my account will be converted in an Xbox one.
- I'll keep playing on console.

Of course, after the switch, the PC account won't be playable anymore, so no risk of people giving it to someone else.

Ok, it's just an excuse because I want to play ED now (and I sadly guess there's no a demo, right?)! :p

Do you think it's:) a stupid suggestion? :)

So all people who have both PC and Xbox get an insurmountable time advantage over people only playing on consoles? Seems fair.

It depends whether FD control the sales of the console version. They did say on the kickstarter that you could buy once, and run it on any of the platforms where they control the distribution. So a future Mac player can play the PC version now (as many are doing on an emulator, I believe) and play on the Mac version when it comes out, at no extra cost.

I suspect it will be different for the consoles, however.

Bought through live arcade is how I expect it - bend over and let microsoft rifle through your pockets on a yearly basis...
Then lose it all when you cancel gold!

Well, not having tried ED before, I've no idea what this "time advantage" could be. As far as I remember all previous Elite were about solitary space expansion, is it now any different? :)

Exploration* sorry (is there an edit post button?). :p

Also, what about the random question? My calculator says it's right but frontier forum page doesn't agree:

(also 1001001 isn't accepted)

There is but you have to either do you time and wait to get it unlocked when the stars align or do like me and ask a mod to give you permission faster.

The random question might be buggy or you need to have some script allowed for it to work to. I know i had problem with the Skype captcha and i had to redo it a thousand times til lit gave me the green light while my friends had it work on the first try..

If all platforms are merged into one and the same Open Play (I don't see any reasons why not), logging in on any Platform should hold the same account.

I don't see any problem even with hopping back & forth - for as long as only 1 login per Account is possible.

The time advantage is always there in one form or another... There's always someone who bought the game earlier than someone else - or simply invested much more time into it.

Console and PC share the same Universe just like Open/Solo/Group, but they are instanced by them self.
Basically you can think of Consoles as a private group.

I am not completely sure, I can't find the quote, but I believe I read they aren't interchangeable.
PC can't log on Console account, and vice versa.

It's not happening, already been confirmed.

The 2 platforms will share the same galaxy (like what solo play is to open) but on PC, you will not meet xbox players and vice versa

Ah ah, thanks. I also hope to get rid of that nasty random question. :D

Time = credits = bigger ships = more firepower and considering this is a MULTIPLAYER game that equals quite a lot.

It don't. We got to keep everything from gamma into the released game, people who extensively used part of the game that was broken to get rich quick got to keep everything. Frontier said it does not matter and after playing i can guarantee it makes no difference what so ever.

Is that really important?
I mean, there will always be someone spending 18 hours a day on the game so who cares, after all?
Maybe there is (will be?) PvP but even there... well, read above. :)

I would't mind others getting a head start because they have a PC they can use, as long as I could get what is basically a pre-order. I'd also consider it a huge bonus if my money helped them put in some new thing(s) by the time I got the game.MS and Sony also need to be shown they have a much wider audience than they usually seem to appeal to. There are XB1 and PS4 player who like sims and other types of currently PC only genre's. What I wouldn't give for a SarCraft type RTS on my console, like Halo Wars tried to be until the narow minded FPS Halo base tore it apart.

Last I saw was a quote from Edward saying that it was desirable that we can meet, but that they were not promising it. Has there been a later statement, or are you adding 2 + 2 and getting 17? Mind you, I fully expect separate instances. Amongst other things, if we do end up with features missing (or released later) on platform X, for whatever reason, then if all the X players are effectively in their own cluster of instances, then no one will be able to do it, rather than if mixed, some will and some will not. Which would probably annoy the can nots.

It's a desirable feature, and we're assessing the viability. For now we can confirm it will share the same evolving narrative and galaxy state between PC, Mac and Xbox One.
