new thread, without any flames -- best ship, and how to outfit?

The Python is a fine ship but it suffers from a low jump range and small fuel tank, not very good for exploration, diecent at trading, excels in combat. And yes the Python is veeeery expensive.
the asp can have more cargo than a type 6 especially with no shields, is designed for exploration, and is quite good in combat doesn't have the best shields so keep that in mind.

do all startports have all ships? I don't have the money for it, but for example, what would the best place be to find a clipper?

Most ports with a shipyard have at least a few of the basic ships, but not all of them. Check high tech systems with large populations and you'll probably find what you want along with many upgrades. The clipper can be found at systems aligned with the Empire but you would need a certain rank to buy it.

Just a question... your last thread you mentioned you had 50 million credits, and are learning to play the game... like completely inexperienced with buying ships etc.

I was wondering, how on earth did you amass 50 million credits without ever buying a ship or understanding their capabilities?

Just curious... no baiting or anything, it's just that, for a lot of people... 50 million is a LOT of money for a starter.

Thanks

this thread mentioned nothing about 50 million.. why on earth are you trolling and dragging that in?

You were saying?

Wealthy high tech large population systems usually have more ships to choose from. The clipper requires the rank of baron in the empire. You gain rank by completing naval accession missions. You gain these missions randomly after doing things that earn you reputation such as trading within the empire or doing missions for the empire. Be advised this takes forever.
Both major stations in wuru have them. The clipper can only be purchased from empire stations and can only get armor upgrades from empire stations that have it in stock.

Well, that's going to take a while.
I'm torn now between a highly upgraded asp and a anaconda. Seems to me an anaconda would be more of a deterrent against potential threats, but upgrade costs seem horrendous.
I may just play around for a bit with different load outs until I get the hang of this... ( or !maybe just get an asp.. :) )

So type A shields dont offer more hit points? How are max hit points calculated? What does the base of the shield rating have to do with it? The one in the shipyard when you view the ship.
