Few things I find annoying in this game(Not a rant)

Been here since Beta phase 1. These problems have existed since then, with no signs of change. Keep in mind this is not a rant, just some criticism. Despite it's flaws I do love this game and will keep playing.

1) Dark Blue space. Why is space blue in this game?(kills my immersion). Is there some pseudo-science reason. Space is ALWAYS portrayed as black in every game and every move(not including nebulae), so I would much rather keep it black, for the sake of believability if nothing else.
2) Jumping to a system with my next dest at my back. Doesn't make sense. I'm sure FD can find a way to plot system entry accordance with nav routes.
3) This one seems to be just me and that is the landing animation and sound effect(magnetic clamp) have never been synced. Sent 3 tickets but no reply.
4) No ingame encyclopedia. Would love to read about the lore ingame. During those long hauls.
5) Trading the only real way to make proper money, sure it makes sense. Combat pilot's aren't millionaires, I understand that. But explorers?! we need some more appreciation, credit wise I mean.
6) FA off doesn't seem to work correctly. Without any input my ship slowly changes vector.
7) Galaxy not up to date. Biggest star in the galaxy is not in the game(UY Scuti). MY Camelopardalis(two colliding stars that will form to make a blue supergiant) also did not make it. Those are just two examples of dozens of systems or planets not in the game.

That's all I can think of right now. Thank you for reading. Again this is not a rant or venting. Just some criticism/observations, that's all.

Hi Gael,

Just regarding 1) .. on my screen space is most certainly black black, but does change tones depending on the sector somewhat I have found. Some areas feel darker, some brighter, some have tones from nebulas or auras from nearby stars etc .. but never come across dark blue for me. Do you mean when you are close to a star or other object or just in general?

2) - 5) I agree !

6) Havent used much so cannot comment.

Cheers!

Yes I also have noticed the shades changing a bit darker for me from time to time. But If I SC out of a system for a few minutes it's definitely blue. I'll post a pic.

Simply stating "This is not a rant" doesn't magically stop it from being one, by definition your post is a rant.

I agree. But I find it helps that specifying intentions actually matter.

@Gael - Cool a pic would be good. Just wondering if some slight adjustments on your monitor might help things, or even via the graphic card settings? Might be something simple like contrast out of whack or something.

This is as dark as it gets for me.

Thanks.

I am in a bright office environment right now (so a bit hard to see the detail), but looks OK to my eyes. Looking black to me with a very slight bluish tone perhaps (or maybe its the bluish stars/cockpit highlight)?

Sorry if I am not seeing it clearly.

If it is more on the minor side as my eyes see it, I think you could reduce the blue colour range in your graphic settings slightly to minimise it a little without impacting everything else greatly. Desaturate it a little as such as the blue does feel a little strong (or unbalanced to the other colours).

NVidia, AMD or Intel should have reasonable options to adjust these things and I am sure there is some savvy player around here who knows what to adjust specifically if you cant find it.

Good luck!

A couple of things I have found / noticed. (In red)

It's definitely black for me. Unless I'm near a star of a particular shade which casts light of a certain colour in that area of space.

2) Jumping to a system with my next dest at my back. Doesn't make sense. I'm sure FD can find a way to plot system entry accordance with nav routes.
Nav Beacons orbit around the star that they are next to. Sometimes you will jump and find the destination is on the other side of the star. It's not always directly behind you.

3) This one seems to be just me and that is the landing animation and sound effect(magnetic clamp) have never been synced. Sent 3 tickets but no reply.
Could be just you. Always seems fine on my end.

4) No ingame encyclopedia. Would love to read about the lore ingame. During those long hauls.
Galnet is a good place to start for getting historical information and the like - though agreed, there could be more available. That said, in a game that has little to no "story" or information, having a backstory or history seems even less likely (not that it wouldnt' be nice).

5) Trading the only real way to make proper money, sure it makes sense. Combat pilot's aren't millionaires, I understand that. But explorers?! we need some more appreciation, credit wise I mean.
Yes and No. It's the "quickest and dullest" way to make money, yes, but if you plan well and work economically, bounty hunting makes you a loooot of money.
On average, I would say I make around 500k+ per hour scouring RES sites for Cobras which can be killed in approx. 20-30 seconds and yield 20k per kill.
Including retargetting and positioning time, let's call that 20k per minute.
100k per 5 minutes. If you can keep that up for an hour, that's 1.2million per hour. I don't usually bother going that hard core, but it's a hell of a lot more fun than trading...

Exploration can be "profitable" to an extent, but tbh it's even more dull than trading, I've found. Agree it needs better payouts for the time taken, though. It's a hobby, not a job at the moment.

For reference, I am a combat-only pilot. I tried trading for 1 day and got bored as hell. I also tried Exploring for 1 day and almost slit my wrists with the sheer boredom! Heh!
I currently have approximately 20-30 million or so in "Assets" I would say.

6) FA off doesn't seem to work correctly. Without any input my ship slowly changes vector.
Welcome to space. You will naturally tumble endlessly unless you get your thruster usage correct. There's no resitance or gravity of any kind in space. If you touch your thrusters in any direction, you wil move endlessly / spin endlessly if rotating.
This is working correctly. You just need to get used to it.

On that note, thinking about it - if you have "stopped" your ship and turn FA on and you find you start moving in a direction, then it is possible that the game is receiving a minor input from either your stick / mouse, etc. So it may be an inidcator that it either needs calibrating or your deadzones are not compensating for the "rest" position correctly. (I had this originally when I first set up my flight stick)

7) Galaxy not up to date. Biggest star in the galaxy is not in the game(UY Scuti). MY Camelopardalis(two colliding stars that will form to make a blue supergiant) also did not make it. Those are just two examples of dozens of systems or planets not in the game.
Can't comment on this, as I'm not an astronomer. But I'm aware that new stars and stuff are being found all the time. They can only keep the universe up to date by so much.

Thanks for commenting. I'm aware of how newtonian physics work:). If you ask me I would have gone full newt with this game. But anyway, what I mean is that if I turn FA off and do a 180 flip, facing my smoke trail, then stabilize my ship from turning and keep FA off, my ship changes it's vector , as in "flying" direction. It's hard to explain. But it's as if my thrusters are still firing, but they're not. Sometimes I notice my speed increasing as well, but I suspect that to be gravitational pull towards a planet or something. I have turned mouse flight off and have tested my stick.

As for nav beacons. There are no nav beacons beyond the frontier. Yet I still appear at the wrong side of the star.
Thanks again for helping.

No problem - in case you thought otherwise, my reply was in no way meant to sound at all patronising. :)
It does sound like it might be a deadzone issue to me, since if you have stabilised completely, then hands off the controls and you are seeing a sudden movement increase in a particular direction / rotation then it is possible that there is a very slight calibration error which is being picked up outside the designated deadzones set in the options sliders.
