Ahhhh... My Mistook... tl/Dr the full text where they did say it would take around 2 hours apparently.

I would have thought in the wonderful world of VMWare it would be a switchover to pre-prepared images. but hey-ho.

Patience is a virtue....and I (apparently) have none.

They post the update information before they have created the images. Remember, they have to take down the servers so that the players can't affect anything. Same as when banks shut down ATMs and PDQ machines whenever they do end of day accounting.

ETA: Still no update, although it did say "about" 2 hours in the OP of the 1.2 update thread.

2nd ETA: Just seen the extension. Looks like a big update/download.

Secondly, can anyone else clarify whether or not you need a certain rank to buy the FDL please. If so what is that rank? Seems a bit odd to me.

Earöier in the thread it was mentioned that both ship would be without any rank requirements. Have fun in the cockpit!

Where is everyone getting the new launcher from? I keep getting the "Launcher Requires Update" prompt and I click YES and it just closes with nothing ever happening. Can anyone help me out with this?

It's international so night here is evening in the US and daytime in Aus. No perfect time so I guess they figure they may as well do it when their developers are all on hand.

Does anybody know if the update will automatically remove the 1.2 beta from my pc, or should I just delete the folder myself (have downloaded new launcher which no longer has the beta as a playable option)?

Don't delete the folder, wait until your client shows that the update is live and then:

Browse to the %localappdata%\Frontier_Developments\Products folder and rename your current FORC-FDEV-D-1000 folder (folder name may vary slightly) to something else and then rename your PUBLIC_TEST_SERVER folder to whatever your main game folder was originally.

Click Upgrade on your launcher and bathe in the minimal downloady goodness that comes with an incremental upgrade from 1.2 (Beta 4).

Once done you can then delete your original folder which you renamed as a backup in the first stage.

Check your downloads folder. It is an small and fast download. I use firefox and the new launcher update is downloaded in my customized download folder. You must click on it t (is an exe) to install it.
