Don't delete the folder, wait until your client shows that the update is live and then:

Browse to the %localappdata%\Frontier_Developments\Products folder and rename your current FORC-FDEV-D-1000 folder (folder name may vary slightly) to something else and then rename your PUBLIC_TEST_SERVER folder to whatever your main game folder was originally.

Click Upgrade on your launcher and bathe in the minimal downloady goodness that comes with an incremental upgrade from 1.2 (Beta 4). :D

Once done you can then delete your original folder which you renamed as a backup in the first stage.

That's a bit cheeky. How will the bandwidth gods be paid if you keep pulling a stunt like that?!

Did you do that with beta 1.1??? Sounds a bit risky to me.... tempted to try it though..

That's all well and good but I'd like to go ahead and start the download for the update since it will probably take another 3 hours to download

Does that really work? I suppose if you're up to date with the beta then it probably will. I'll try it, although I didn't download the last two beta updates so it'll be slower, but not as slow as downloading the whole lot in one go.

Odd - I get my 109mb one from here:

https://store.elitedangerous.com/downloadable/download/link/id/LONG NUMBER HERE/

Gonna try yours now to see if there's any visible difference.

weird, that's the link that i got forwarded to when clicking ok on the 'There is a new launcher update, download to proceed' Thingy. and only 11mb like everyone elses seems to be

EDIT -> Thinking about it, could be that the link i put was just an update to current launcher, whereas the link from the store is the whole launcher. Best i can come up with

Yes, indeed I did. It ended up taking around 5 minutes to update from the last 1.1 beta version to the live version using this method. :D

Hahahahahahahaha...that's a good one!!! :D

Hehe yea :D
But when does the surface landing expansion/planet sandbox come out? lol! I miss landing on planets since Elite: Frontier which i sank hundreds of hours into back in the day.

But the changelogs for this game is impressive. All of them. Good work.
One thing is worsethan raging forums: silent forums :) At least people care !

Is anyone else having problems with the new launcher? I get a corrupted screen (which I can't post, due to "restrictions") and when I try and log on I just get an immediate blue screen of death, which seems a bit harsh!

Yes it works, the client likely uses some kind of hash check to see which files are missing or incorrect and only updates as appropriate.
