Is this a pending price drop on ships?

Rumours coming out of Mars today suggest that a powerful lobbying group, acting on behalf of Admiral Vincent and the Federal Navy, are currently engaged in a massive campaign to lower taxes on combat-capable spacecraft. The aim of the campaign is to encourage Federal pilots to become more battle-ready in these times of heightened tensions.

If the lobbying efforts prove to be successful, the Imperial armament program will doubtless be forced to follow suit or else risk the Empire being undermined by the increased combat capabilities of the Federal Navy.

Would be nice if they drop ship prices a few %

So it turns out this is how they're announcing to "fix" the Price Table for combat Ships - coming soon(tm) to a Shipyard near you :D

It really made me spontaneously laugh hard, it's rare that the Game still does that...

Sorry for all guys that "jumped the gun" and tossed countless Millions of Credits at the new ships http://www.falconfly.de/img/chatt.gif

Wow, I could never have guessed that the Fed Military have lobbyists on this august forum!:D

Interesting way to announce it...or did I miss something?

I'd wager a guess that Vulture and FDL buyers will get a refund for the difference.

since it's a "tax reduction" and not "halving the production cost", i don't expect it will satisfy everyone ;)

Good to know that they're actually listening their playerbase. And this was rather stylish way to announce (possible) rebalance. I still wonder how the heck those ridicoulus prices even made it into the game in first place.

So I'm curious, I hate the FDL because its jump range is so limiting combined with its fuel tank and i want to sell it - what do my fellow forum goers think is the best plan to get screwed the least? Should i sell it now, take the 10mil hit then buy another one and pretend it never happened, or do you think FD will refund owners the difference between the old and new price?

really don't want to go trade to make that 10mil back.... but BH really isn't buffed for me, 20 minutes = 40k, 11 sidewinders, 4 vipers 2 cobras all low rank, what is wrong with these spawns give me some big high rank ships already i'm not low rank :/

I would have thought those that bought the new ships can still sell for the original price, that's how it always works with discount ships. Am not interested in the FDL since flying it in Beta, but a cheaper Corvette may interest me when it rolls out next month.

Anyway, someone plonking down 100 mill on a FDL isn't worried about cash :) I have 300 mill and still wouldn't spend 100 mill on a FDL

David Braben Tweet: .I hear the Fed Navy agrees with those lobbying for lower prices of the FDL so..

David Braben has tweeted as follows an hour ago:

Very pleased with #EliteDangerous Wings. I hear the Fed Navy agrees with those lobbying for lower prices of the FDL so..."

This strongly suggests a price cut is incoming, I wonder if it will be exclusive to Fed Ranked pilots (though i doubt that)

How much I wonder.

Have to say i definitely agree with the decision to introduce a price cut. No mention of the vulture. I imagine will remain >40 million stock price but definitely an improvement.

Presumably refunds will be made available for those who purchased - without the 10% resale tax?

Anyway sounds like good news, would be nice to see a forum post clarifying what is proposed.

The Galnet is to provide an in-game explanation for the sudden drop in repair prices with the launch of 1.2, the tweet is another matter I think and indicates a FDL price drop.

FDEV has a certain history to balance things by managing expectations via limiting extremes first, so the striken "final" balance is appreciated by the community. They did the same thing with gimbal weapon locking in speeds. Went from one extreme to the other so to test player tolerances and then it was balanced at a majorly agreeable point.
