Wingman Trade Dividend Working?

Trader friend wanted some hired guns. So grouped up and set wingman nav lock ect. He does a ton of trading but I have yet to see a Wingman Trade Dividend. I see the heading in the contact listing but nothing is listed. What are we missing?

Looks like you might have to dissolve and re-create the wing. That happened to us too, but re-creating fixed it.

tried this last night, it seemed to work when we were both at the same station but not if we were just in the same system. can anyone confirm if this is how it's meant to work?

you can't set percentages, it's set at 15%

its 5% per wingman not 15%, its only 15% if you have a full wing of 4.

also there appears to be a bug, if you are docked and in station services, when another sells u don't seem to get the profit share, just being on the pad but not in starport services seems to be ok for the moment, not sure if not docked has an effect atm tho

So, if I escort a trader and he makes a million I can expect 50k in payment. I wonder how this'll pan out?

How much are traders losing to piracy on an average run? Depends if you look at it as the amount you paid for the rares you're dropping or how much they could sell for.

Would it be worth paying for say a single viper to escort? Would he be much use now we have vultures and wings roaming about? Then again traders can expect to be asked to drop more cargo now if they're going to get pulled over by a wing.

It's going to be fun however it goes.

+ + +

5% is not enough as escort, FD please give us an slider to select how much cash we want to give our mates!

Just to clarify, the trader pays nothing. The station pays the escort ships for helping the goods arrive safely. And shield boosters make a huge difference to large freighters now, even a wing is going to have a hard time stopping a trader before he jumps. At least in my experiance.

also repair costs, if some idiot pulls my T9 out of SC and starts shooting, I would think it's better to dump 20T then pay repair costs, now I just boost Chaff, and let the shields/hull take the punishment while my FSD charges.

Pirates are better off going for strong signal sources

If it has not changed since the Beta, the 5% are not paid by the trader, but by the station. So if the trader sells goods for 1m credits, each wingmember will get a 50k trading dividend paid by the station. No costs for the trader at all.

EDIT: Ninja'd

that's a shame - I thought it was 15% per wingman not 5, that makes it a lot less enticing for fighters to act as an escort.

i dunno....anytime I'm doing the rare route in my cobra I may as well escort someone....

Does this work 2 way? Can 2 ships get 5% of each others profits or is there only 1 "trader" allowed per wing?

Wouldnt that 5% be applied to the profit instead? So typically for a 1m run with 100k profit, that would give everybody else in the wing 5k credits.
If it wasn't on profit, it would mean you could actually sell at a significant loss and still make profit.

Well last night I flew with some friends, one was in a Python hauling 200T another in a Cobra, I stuck with my T9. They escorted me on my route and bought the same cargo as me, I wouldn't normally share such a lucrative route. The potential money earning for escorts is big. I was making 600,000 each way, my escorts would have got 5% each plus the profits from the cargo they bought.

sounds a lot better then some idiot in a ASP asking for 15T and begging you not to combat log.. It seems the devs want to promote teamwork, and it's working quite well..

One question for people that might have tested it. Does it work for illegal goods?

I doubt it since you have to contact station authorities to claim your 5%

Thank you CMDR. I believe this to be the issue we saw.

I have not played the beta myself, but from lurking their Forums it seems like it is indeed 5% off the selling price, not the profit. I dont know oft there even is a mechanic in game that tracks your actual profit in a trade.

Shield boosts aren't that great when you're up against ships that are somehow able to remove your shields in one shot.

I was interdicted by an AI Asp while flying a T9 last night. Shields went in the first volley. It's not like I've gone for a stupidly low shield either, I have a 6A shield generator which should be more than enough to withstand a few volleys and was prior to 1.2. Heck over the weekend it even stood up to an Anaconda.

Given how quickly my shields were dropped a wingman wouldn't have made much difference either as I would likely still have recieved the same amount of damage before being able to jump away, but it certainly would have felt a little better and I may have actually stuck around long enough to ensure the Asp was killed - which in turn may have at least paid back some of the repair cost (frankly the bounty should be 2x the cost of repairing damage caused but that's another debate for another time).

As for trade dividends, they may not be worth it for a single escort, but it's certainly enough to warrant traders to group up instead. A wing of Type 9's could be gaining an additional 200,000 per round trip. That might not sound much compared to how much the T9 brings in, but it all adds up.

It's not as if 4 Type 9's would be easy targets either; even ignoring forward firing weapons, that's a potential 12 medium beam turrets. Even in the scenario above where I lost my shields in 1 shot, that Asp would be equally as toast - especially considering most AI pirates tend not to have shields.
