Greatly reduced fuel price

Ugh.

So are we to take this as FD having completely given in to the extremely vocal 'instant gratification' crowd? Seeing as they seem to be lining up a cut to the cost of the new ships too? :(

More like the crowd that doesn't want to make ED a second job.

FD is trying to allow people to upgrade to higher tier ships without the need of trade grinding. It also doesn't make sense to have the ships have different fuel prices. It would make sense though, to have the higher tier ships guzzle fuel faster.

seems this patch has buffed trading more than anything - now can skip fuel scoop at these prices, so 16 extra cargo, + can get up to 15% profit bonus from joining a trader wing.

Anyway glad to see fuel has reduced, though it sounds like it was reduced a little too much. Saves the bother of buying fuel scoop, filling up, then replacing with a cargo rack until fuel is running out again.

Personally I would prefer for them to flesh out the other roles to make them more viable, rather than just make things arbitrarily cheaper to satisfy that. That's just my personal preference though, and is clearly contrary to the hivemind anyway, so pay no heed :)

There are more than enough traders out there that never used a scoop, including myself. Some will get some extra cargo, some only have less costs now. My average bill for fuel from python upwards was always 20 - 30K, so its about the same. Everybody wins, not just traders. In general, nice change - never cared too much about the cost itself, but it always seemed not really logical, at least with the widely spread costs, even ships if the same size / weight. I only hope changes in this direction stop for now, not that someone comes to the thought insurance should cost next to nothing as well.

this change benefits everyone and it never made any sense to have hydrogen fuel cost so much for ships simply because they were more expensive ships.

Great change in my opinion.

I think it was a fine idea. The whole point of the fuel scoop /was/ for exploration, not struggling to make ends meet through close system trading.

Also it kind of makes the fuel scoop pointless for anything other than exploration.

Not sure I agree. I don't explore, but keep a fuel scoop on my Cobra, not because I couldn't afford fuel, but because it saves a lot of time scooping fuel when travelling large distances to different systems for conflict zones or whatnot.

indeed as someone who has spent in game so far to date 25,961,050cr on fuel and 33,609,131cr on repairs I welcome the changes in 1.2.x
Nice to see you now have a none-zero figure on 'credits spent on ships', mine is over 900mil :) (I swop ships a lot thru boredom)

228 credits? I do not really care, but come on, is that not stupidly cheap?

I would expect it to cost a few grand to fuel that bad boy!.

oh well........................ Like i said, i am not that bothered, I just worry its a bit of an OTT knee jerk.

I kind of don't agree with this change. Fuel scope is useless now.

Reflecting price of oil? lol

Fuel for my T9 is now pocket change, kinda makes the fuel scoop obsolete for traders now and I now have extra cargo racks for my T9. Good times are here indeed lol

To be fair, fuel scooping should really be reserved for pilots wanting to travel long distances.

I like this change. I didn't mind how things were before but it's fine that it's been changed because it made no sense before and was an arbitrary tax on players with larger ships that forced you to use a fuel scoop.

No, it's not. You can't travel longer than a certain distance without docking. Some ships burn up fuel very quickly and it's far too risky to go on a long trip without a fuel scoop, unless you want to micro-manage your trip to include stations at certain ranges (which is both annoying and time consuming). So the fuel scoop is still useful for anyone wanting to travel (and you need to travel in most ships at some point). It's an essential module for explorers, which is one third of the game's primary careers. And I'll be using one every time I go further than 100LY. Which is often, even when I don't explore.

What the fuel scoop was was simply a way to eliminate the cost of fuel in big ships anyway. I seriously doubt that was its intended use. And fuel scoops cost nothing, because you could sell it for 100% cost as soon as you were done with it. I say fuel scoops now have a true purpose, rather than just being the essential fuel cost eliminator. They'll now be used only by those who travel long distances. And when you think about it, really think about it as if fuel scoops had only just been added to the game, isn't that what you'd expect them to be used for?

Essentially, the high fuel costs were pointless because of fuel scoops. It's a no brainer, really.

The price shoudl eb the same as the one advertised on the commodities market.

The galaxy is big and even small ships and new players should be given a chance to spread their wings.

We can now boldly go which brilliant.

This cut open up the galaxy, whats not to like?

It's hardly instant gratification to pay the market rate that's been displayed since day one.

Now we need refunds so we can get out there and see more of the galaxy... oh yes!

Fuel Scoops are still useful for "small" trips(100Ly) on ships with small Fuel Tanks, because no one wants to dock to refuel at that one outpost 1000Ls away.

Repairs and fuel are effectively now free; may as well just give us a tickbox to auto-press the buttons Refuel and Repair as there isn't a time you'd potentially not do it now.

They just changed it to cost the same for all ships, so now only the tank size makes a difference. It didn't really make sense before, with different ships having a different bill for the same fuel. They probably just need to bump the universal price up a bit.

Wear and tear is still ridiculously expensive though.

Fuel scoops were always aimed at exploration, they are still very useful.
