Bounty hunting is fine but I need more than $200,000 per hour.
Trading is fine for $110,000 per trip but its boring and I want more.

I've not tried piracy, how well does it pay?
I've not tried mining, how well does it pay?
I've not tried smuggling, how well does it pay?

And finally if I sign up for the Imperial meat grinder how much do its ranks pay?

I just had a disturbing mental image of Storm Troopers filmed in SUPERMARIONATION.

I'm too lightweight a player to give a good estimate of possible earnings though.

Trading is far and away the most money you can make in the game, and caps out for the best traders at about 7-8 million an hour. That's the most one can reliably make in the game.

Piracy is more of a hobby than a career right now.
Mining ... well that isn't even a hobby. Stay away!
Smuggling is fun, but doesn't match trading or even bounty hunting.

Imperial Ranks are strictly for show and for permits to Summerland, Facece and Achenar. Which really don't do much for you... or at least didn't until very recently.

Some systems often have traders carrying rares, as a PvE pirate I could make 100k+ every half hour stealing from Type 7 Transports in Pichch. Motrona Experience Jelly sells for 13k a piece at Baffin (Platform?) :D

Can't do anything about the boring part of it - but get a bigger Ship and you're easily looking at increased profits per Trip.
For smaller rides, Rare Goods trading seems to be the preferred solution.

For bounty hunting :
- head into a NAV Point of an Anarchy System that has a majority Unfettered Faction (in extreme cases - almost every Ship you see there has a Bounty the KWS can reveal)
- head into an Anarchy System Resource Extraction Site
- head into uninhabited Resource Belt Clusters (50:50 chance of getting 2 potent Pirates spawned for you all the time - but don't try that in a small Cobra though, unless you're really good ;) )
- head into Medium/Strong USS - if you feel lucky :D
