Outpost Etiquette, and feature request

When landing at an outpost its good Etiquette to "enter the hanger" to free up the pad for anyone else wanting to land.

Happened twice, to me tonight in Empire space, first time i commed the commander but they ignored it, the second time i was at in an Anarchy and the cmdr had an ASP so gave him plenty of warning then i tried to clear the pad with my beams. This is where the feature request comes in, it appears that ships sitting on a pad are invulnerable. After emptying the wep capacitor ~10 time once for each subsystem on his ship it was still healthy as can be.

If you sit out on a Pad your ship should be fair game.

dont think entering the hanger helps - he is still in the same instance so you cant land and enter the hangar. either wait, go somewhere else or log off log on and try and get a different instance

the boring method someone will say is go solo

tend to agree with your last point in anarchies though :D

It doesnt free up the pad, tried and tested.

A ship on a pad occupies the pad, whether it's on deck on in the hanger. There isn't multi level hangers - might be some that could be added in future to some of the bigger more populated stations. But that's not something I'd expect to see on an outpost type station - they'd simply not have the room for multi ship hangers and the other stuff that the station would be there for.

As for anarchy being able to shoot a ship that's landed. Hopefully that will be added at some point in the future, then again, may they didn't do it deliberatly. might be a reason why you can't destroy a ship that just happens to be docked in your way.

Technically, if one player has entered the hangar, another player could still land, refuel, use the BB, buy/sell goods, launch, pretty much do everything except buy a ship/outfit their ship, but the game mechanics presently do not allow this, and I'm not sure why.

Probably because the player in the hangar would not be able to launch until the other docked ship leaves :)

I'm pretty sure getting shot up while you're browsing the commodities section or the billboard would be the most horrible change FD could ever implement.
You don't take a gun to the Post Office and start shooting the people in the queues in front of you (unless you're a psycho, of course)...
