Frontier, you need to rethink ship pricing.

Make the Vulture cheaper and less awesome or put a stepping stone ship in between that level.

No. Nononononono. No. Please. No more nerfs just to appease the angry mobs.

Stepping stone ships are a good idea, and I think we can all agree that the game will benefit from more content.

Edit: come to think of it, an easy solution would be to make the current Vulture the "Vulture Mk3". Put in "Vulture Mk1" and "Vulture Mk2" with reduced price and abilities. That way they could even re-use the ship models (perhaps with minor adjustments).

Yeah and we all know that will be a meager 10% off or something completely irrelevant to all but the 1% of no life grinders who could afford the dearer price in 1st place

You don't need to be a no life grinder to afford a kitted out Vulture... you just can't be one of those lazy scrubs who refuse to put any effort in at all *cough*

When I was doing my rare runs, I always had YouTube on in the background, could listen to audio books, or TV shows, music, whatever...........Exploring? You kind of need to be awake, it is a long way to the Outfitters for repairs, and a lapse of concentration near a Neutro or Black star, can ruin a few weeks of exploring.....but, it CAN be done in a fairly relaxed way,.....
.
There is no way I can watch movies, use my feet to run the laptop whle I lay in bed in a hotel, and do RES combat...............
.
Trading is the most Lazy proffesion...we ALL have to dock....we ALL have to jump stars............explorers run the "month of loss" risk and jumping in to unknown systems, bountie and pirates risks come from combat............Traders? Forget to do a docking request becasue they are watching Simpsons re-runs............if you can become the most powerful player in the game, while watching TV.,.....then somat is VERY wrong!........

Funny how the people who shout "What do you want a bigger ship for? Be content with what you got!" fly Pythons and other big ships. Sounds like David Cameron and George Osborne's reproaches to the poor.

Ive restarted my game with a clear save a month a go or so - main reason was I was stuck in a "must get a bigger ship" loop instead of enjoying the game

Ive just changed from a cobra to an asp (i have kept the cobra) main reason was I had out grown the cobra I had run out of hard points and storage space. I found that an NPC python was do-able but a type 9 or and anaconda was a bit more tricky so am building up the ASP again. The cobra was great becasue battles were real, I could do well but I could also have to run away at times I'm hoping the ASP will be the same, if not Ill get the cobra out of the garage. A fight thats over in 30 seconds (as eagles are in the cobra) are no fun, a fight against an asp in a cobra that has good shields and hull and lasts 20 mins - even if I have to run away -now thats FUN

So I fly small ships its much more fun than the big ship race

I think the problem is there are no "mid-tier" combat ships. My money is that 1.3 will have more then just 2 ships launching... I'm going to make a bet that we'll see between 4-6 new ships. I also have a theory that 1.3 will be close to, if not the, last free update. It's going to be a very large content update, stated by Michael himself.

If I recall correctly, there will be a total of 30 ships in game (up from 25 before Michael's announcement on this a few months back). We're at 17 now, so that still leaves 13 remaining. If they released 2 ships per month, it would take until September for the remaining ships to be put in the game.

My thought on this, and I could very well be wrong, is that they'll want to have all ships in game before releasing paid DLC. I envision DLC will include extra ships on their own, perhaps specialized for that DLC and I DOUBT that number 30 is including ships from paid DLC. Perhaps the extra staff they hired has work that is finally being released. But I really feel that we're going to have a few extra surprise ships on 1.3, ones that will start filling the pricing gaps.

Also, you would think that they can't keep going without releasing some additional paid DLC, not for the next 6 months. I think with 1.3 we're going to see the announcement of the first DLC as well, probably launching around June.

Next 2 ships are also expensive, it's a courier and the other one is the same size as the largest ships in-game, so nothing for mid-tier again.

FD is going to loose players if they keep this up.

The kind of players it's going to lose, are the kind of players this game can do without! It's that simple...

They were losing players THIS WEEK because of it....did you not see the forums? Sorry traders, you have had it too good for too long, and will just have to suck this one up........

Why? Because 3 hours a day is a lot? That's pretty much what your average player plays in a day

(citation needed)

But yes, the fact that you consider 3 hours to be average is my point.

I probably manage an hour a day on average (some days more, some less), and I still feel guilty about playing games when I should be doing other stuff. And I don't have a family...

You know the players that FD are loosing are those that are supporting the game by buying the skins, right? And would be the would-be DLC, right?

That's money that FD is loosing.

If you think that players that give money to FD leaving is a good thing, you're out of your mind.

I'd rather keep players who understand what makes a good, challenging game, than keep the ones who spend money, but whine about anything that is even remotely difficult or time consuming.

At least then, the game will end up in a place that serves it much better in the long run, and a place that will attract people looking for something challenging and rewarding.

One question: why would you care if other players are richer than you? Why do you feel a trader who is only interested in space trucking (and watching Netflix) is more powerful in this game than you? Traders are only gonna get money. They dont get combat experience. They are probably not even interested in combat (otherwise why would they spend all their time trading?). Does it make your game less enjoyable just because there are some richer people out there? Do your NPC opponents become stronger because a player 200 LY away spends his time trading palladium? Are you afraid that this trader will some day buy an uber-ship to hunt you down and make your life miserable?

Sometimes I really dont understand people. Remember the time shortly after launch when a botched database update made a few lucky players insanely rich? FD originally wanted to let them keep their money. A great number of people were against this decision because they felt that it somehow invalidated their own progress. This feels similar and I honestly just dont understand it.

Two weeks of grinding random NPCs for 3 hours a day- All aboard the fun train!!

Very interested to see how cheap combat ships become and whether this will actually change player behavior, if it will actually make non-trading roles more viable, or just create the illusion of parity with traders still having access to every ship in the game while, other roles don't.

Yes they do all they need is to trade a little.
