LOL drop ship more of a combat ship the other actual combat ships. SMH FD

why would anyone buy a drop ship. compared to the other ships and not to mention the EXTREMELY BROKEN faction missions it still isn't worth it

If it was 2-3 mill I would have bought one, when I've been at that stage of the game. It would have been a good alternative to the Type 6 for trading with some combat capabilities. Of course the rank requirement must be lower in that case.

The fact it can carry a little more than an asp, it has plenty of power/weapons, and it can land on outposts, if they have made it cheap enough (I hope) it can be the python lite or good cheaper ship for missions.

rank isnt the issue its the broken reputation/ranking system. before 1.1 i went form nobody to baron in 3 days. after 1.1 it took me over 2 and half weeks to get from nobody to the rank that i could get the drop ship. they need to get their thoughts together and fix the bigger problems in this game rather than covering them up

Can it though? I have killed many dropships. I never met one that was a challenge. They are the easiest targets I ever encountered.

Exactly that

The Dropship has no distinguishing advantage and too many negatives to justify it for any current use.

Perhaps if they did a huge buff to it's armor and shields to make it a real combat survivor that just can't do much damage to opponents, it might have some limited appeal.

As NPC ya it sucks, but I'd love to see someone whos good with flight assist off/good flying skills could pull off with it. People aren't looking at its firepower or expect it to be a 1v1 ship. In a wing it offers some utility, tank or 3-4 missile pods/railguns for example. It doesn't suffer from power problems like ferd-lance does.

I think it all depends on how much cheaper they made it.

of the NPC's i've fought Elite Dropships are one of the hardest, good hardpoints, good locations, not an enormous profile and very tanky in terms of hull. Asps are the easiest ship to kill by an absolute mile.

The ships which were dropped were not "combat ships" they specified teh drop to aplpy to "non-trading" ships.

In other words ships that could not be fitted with cargo bays to be viable for trading.

Those are exactly the ships they dropped, ofc they did not need to cut the price of viper even lower.

FD, please put the prices up to spite all the people who complain at something good happening.

Moaning must be the only thing that makes some people happy.

title says it all. drop ship a combat ship. python& anaconda aren't lmao. i really wish these people that make the decisions would label stuff in this game instead of making up rules as they go.

Whatever you're smoking please share........we dont get that good stuff over here it would seem :D

As for your title, the Dropship is an armoured Troop Carrier, nothing more. It's an armoured taxi. It cannot fight it's way out of a corner in a rondavel and rightly so - as said, it's a taxicab for soldiers - treat it as such. Look at what happens when a Dropship gets frisky........

Not pretty, eh?

I'm still trying to figure out what SMH is.
Also, the original quote was that all non-trade ships were to come down in price, too bad that's changed, maybe someone would have actually bought an Orca.

i understand the vulture and the FDL but the drop ship? why doesn't FD just say we F'ed up and made the new ships too high price so now were pretending that the "pure" combat ships are getting a price reduction. so dumb

If you consider it's hardpoint placement along with it's high hull armor, low cargo capacity, yeah it makes sense it's a "combat focused" ship. If it's not good for trading, and not enough internal space to be multi-purpose, then yeah I'd call it combat.

Yeah, but I guess since most multi-purpose ships can fit themselves to be almost as good as "tradeships" it makes sense. I mean the Clipper is considered multi-purpose, but it should be in no way be as cheap as a Type-7 because it's not a "dedicated trade-ship" There cargo capacity is about the same.

I've noticed the Dropship is a real tank in both shields and especially hull. Its ability to take damage and remain a threat is admirable, and it should best be used as a gunboat for taking on small and medium fighter craft. You could also outfit it to kill large ships, as once again it can take some damage and deliver a good punch. It is expensive, at the moment I am torn between fitting an Asp to help deal with the new Vulture threat, or just toughing it out in my Viper until I can afford a Vulture. Really though, I just want to save credits for the Federal Corvette and then stomp all comers :)

You make a good point about the Orca ommission.

Hadn't occurred to me because I generally don't remember such a ship exists. Maybe they forgot about it when generating teh patch too?

guess you didn't read the description where it said the anaconda is used by some militaries and a frigate based combat ship. JESUS PEOPLE CARGO DOESNT MAKE IT MULTIROLE

the key here is some militaries, as it stands we dont have a dedicated Large anaconda sized combat ship appart from the conda it self, now the conda is multirole simply because it has lots of cargo, can fight decently, and can explore ... so YES ITS MULTIROLE

Python is widely considered to be the best combat ship so i have no idea what your going on about... The Dropship on the other hand has major hardpoint placement issues... Frankly everything I've seen makes it look pretty useless..
