Download Kickstarter Collection NOW !!

great stuff .

i have the torrent and am seeding , tho its not been going out as quickly as i would like (sorry to whoever is grabbing it).

I'm having ago at downloading the original file and if I don't disturb it too much it should take a couple of hours.

Yes, it certainly worked and sorry I didn't get back to you earlier because I was really tired last night after I got home and had a look at it.

Anyway, I very impressed and pleased it included all the media that I have myself being trying to collect as well as some of the most important original games.

Would be better if they came with instructions.

As I had a look at those games in this order.

First Encounters after paying my fine and obtaining permission to launch, I just couldn't get my ship off the ground and I couldn't end the game without closing it down using my Windows Task Manager.

Frontier I did the same here and managed to get off the ground, but no further and had to use the Windows Task Manager to shut the game down. Of course I was bit lazy to look through recently acquired games manual.

Elite Plus PC This one appears to run much faster than the original as I look through my rear monitor after leaving the orbital station to notice that it was a such fair distance away from me so soon. Other ships appear to move so much faster and were harder to hit and every time I killed few, more would appear. The menu control seemed to be reversed but I got the hang of them after a while. It's so interesting to finally see the alien races pictured when you look at the current destination planet's description.

I could only find Humans, Felines, Rodents and Lizardmen.

But how do you use Witch-Space/Hyperspace.

The H just doesn't work and I couldn't for the life of me otherwise find out how to make it work.

Once again, I had use the Windows Task Manager shut it down again.

Elite BBC Micro The games gave me few choices here and I picked Executive which caused the game to crash. Strange, as I thought that PC would be able to run all game emulations.

I tried to run it again by picking another choice, but didn't even get that far. It kept telling the file was already there and when I tried to replace it I got this error.....

Copy failed. Manually copy files from:
C:\Program Files\Kickstarter collection\AutoPlay\Games\Elite BBC\UserData\*.*

To BeebEm data folder:
C:\usersMike\Documents\BeebEm\

So, that one won't work at all now.

I would love to play the Commodore Amiga's - Elite Plus

Hint, hint :D

Anyway, I was still looking through multi-media work of art for over a hour when the whole thing nearly shut down my system.

My computer screen went blue and then black for few minutes before restarting.

I got a message on my computer telling me it had to shut-down to prevent permanent damage to my system.

My antivirus protection software which is what I think saved my computer from complete collapse told me there was a error produced from your application that needed correcting.

After unwisely restarting your application, I encountered no more signs of instability to my computer application.

Though, I'm glad I wasn't using a brand new computer. As I am still unsure of the overall damage.

Apart from that, I'm pleased with it all, but I haven't bothered to burn it to a disk yet.

I don't know if I will be recommending this application to my friends, because of what it did or almost did to my computer.

Sorry to say :(

@Commander Mick

First Encounters ..Exit Game ..Ctrl + F9
Alt +Enter = switch screenmodes
as shown on screen kickstarter game screen.

However in encounters Hyperspace is selected through the map screen and then controlled by hitting the hyperspace button on the lower left of the screen when you have selected the system then planet or station it will appear...Its not like Elite or Frontier to Hyperspace or even take off for that matter

Frontier ..Exit Game ..Ctrl + F9
Alt +Enter = switch screenmodes
as shown on screen kickstarter game screen

Elite BBC Micro was only configured for the original ( The top game )...You can play the others but you have to configure from the menu in window mode...IE Second processor etc and browse to the Elite IMG file..It sounds like you have re-pathed the emulators files....A reinstall would cure this

For this game to exit you must do it through the top menu window.....Alt +Enter to switch screens

Im sorry you had probs mate

Oh, I did forget that exiting game was done using the Ctrl + F9. Though I forgot which function key it was and kept pressing the wrong one.

As for using the start map, and because my new joystick was connected. I could spin the star-map around. Except, it also kept scrolling and it wouldn't stop and had difficulty selecting another planetary system within range.

Not that I got far as far as lifting off to try it. I will try and remember what you have told me.

I had figured it out. At first I removed the whole Elite - BBC - Micro folder from where Elite - Kickstarter installed, but it gave me a error when I clicked on it. So I put it back in and clicked on it again, having a good look at where the file that it was trying to Move and Replace was. It was trying to Move and Replace the file it made in my Documents folder. I deleted that one and tried it again with success. This time I picked the original version and started here up.

It works fine and I eventually worked out which keys to Pitch, Roll and Fire the Pulse-Laser with.

I have now worked out how to go Witch-Space/Hyper-Space jump. Once I have selected another planetary system to travel to in Elite - BBC - MIcro as well as Elite - Plus - PC.

Yes, well perhaps you could look into why that has happened. Otherwise, I am very pleased with your hard work and would be very happy to share the link for this download with other people and friends on other forums. Along with a special warning that it may be unstable and they definitely need some decent Anti-Virus Software if they want use safely use it.

However you may like to revise your software with the addition of these.....

Elite - Wiki

Ian Bell's Elite Home Page

Elite - Expanded Universe

Unless you already did and couldn't get permission.

I hope you found my criticism constructive and not disrespectful.

Glad you got the games sorted...However ...Emulation problems does not mean the disk is unstable...Some Operating systems just don't get on with some emulation software..64 bit for instance can be tricky even with Mame etc ...If you configure Emulation incorrectly.... Something you have installed may conflict...It could be anything..

Some virus programs like AVG can cause emulation to lock up or post False Positives......Meaning some antivirus programs can cause problems ...The Emulator creators themselves warn this can happen....I myself struggle to run the Acorn Emulator.....My mouse locks up and my machine restarts randomly yet on my sons its perfect ... I even clearly post conflict warnings on Elite forever on the download page about issues virus programs can cause..

http://www.eliteforever.co.uk/downloads.html

AVG does however allow you to insert false positives so it ignores it and allows certain programs to run correctly The creators of AVG are aware this can happen and allow for it.

I don't think it would be fair to to share a link telling people its unstable when so many have downloaded and run it perfectly without any issues whatsoever....In fact I don't think there have been any other problems as yet ..

My machine shut down again and then slowly restarted earlier last night. I'm not sure wether it was because I had been running your application in the background or it was from trying to play the Mass Effect Two demo via Steam. My anti-virus software took a good fifteen to thirty minutes fixing a error.

We use Norton 360, not AVG if that helps.

Sorry, if you think I'm being mean, but I would feel even worse if I shared a link to a dangerous -potentially computer ruining- download.

As of yet, I haven't said boo about it to anybody.

I may just keep it to myself instead and leave the sharing to you.

BTW, so you got those game from Elite Forever. I was wondering where you scored those.
