So, why are you so bothered that just once in a while you may get attacked by a pirate that is NOT an NPC.... ? Why is that such a problem to you solo players.

Honestly i'm not trolling here, I am genuinely puzzled by this aversion to playing a space MMO in multiplayer mode...

You are puzzled as you are trying to place their perspective in terms of game mechanics. Instead, place it in terms of choice. Then, it's quite simple as you are not conflating two things that can be unrelated which can cause puzzlement.;)

To be honest - part of the fun is nuking belligerent newbs who have absolutely no idea how a datastream works. Even when you tell them, they persist in newbishness, which indicates time to consign them to 127.

If only more players were more clever, and less pew-pew.

Dressing gown and slippers are OP and need nerfed!

Too many new pilots these days need instant pew-pew and ignore the value of a nice warm blanket :(

Don't forget rose tinted glasses, they need a nerf, no a buff, no a nerf, oh I forget now, but I think I am annoyed about it.

Time to fill up the hot water bottle & make a hot malt drink, actually sod that I have the morning off, the workman wont be here until 10 am, I am going to play for an hour or two.

I have no problem with human pirates. I have a problem with human beings.

If ED had been advertised as a pure MMO, i'd never have backed it. I was really happy about the multiplayer option in case i sometime in the future want to use it.
And at this time, many things in my RL were even different then now.
I was just fed up with MMOs... after 15 years i got extremely annoyed by them.
Nowadays things are even worse.

I am just simply amazed that very few peeps know a 127 from a 224 - come on pew-pews, are you really that bad? All the evidence demonstrates so, let's hear it from your side. If there is one. Come one, you've got a whole guild to help you.

If FD ever (and we know it will never happen, it has been confirmed recently) decided to give "rewards" to open only, I will PM you / google it / ask my network guy at work what I need to do with my router or firewall to make open into solo.

But TBH when I have a bit more insurance money for my not too scary Asp (only ship), with my not very good PVP skills I might spend a bit more time in open anyway, I have no problem dropping a reasonable amount for a pirate, if they RP well, or I escape & they get me again then I might drop it so its not stolen, or a bit more, let them get a better price for their work, I have done it, it can be fun, if I am in the mood.

Or 224 if you want the newbishness advertised. ;)

Can you translate the numbers into words please, it is a little bit like reading the patch notes lol.

I actually expected you techies to be using binary ;o)

Unless you are in or near one of the popular hot-spots, your chances of being attacked by a human player are very, very small.

That is just evil and I want no part of that :D

Now I really fear you people, I need to go make a new tinfoil hat.

Can someone break this code lol, am I a 127 or a 224, please don't 224 me, 127 seems bad but 224 looks like eternal damnation.

Jeez, I can't even get raptr to work right now :D

There is absolutely nothing to fear from peeps like me. We are studious and technical, educated and knowledgeable but not very ambitious. We earn decent money, we own homes and cars and motorcycles, but we typically don't give a flying fig about anyone outside of our own immediate group of friends/associates.

It's the penniless basement dwelling, unemployed asexual wizard princess cupcakes that you need to be afraid of ;)

We are, just in octets :D

I have no idea what an "octets" is/are, nor the time to google it right now, I should have been playing 30 mins ago ;o).

It was a standing joke where I worked a few years ago, on a Friday at around lunch time, or 5pm, any sequence of zeros or ones meant, are you coming to the pub.

Along with "if you sneak up on them & they don't see you, you will hear them conversing in binary"

LOL, ROFL, PMSL, I hope I never meet any of them, in person or online.

If you can design software to block them you might earn a few quid.

+1 rep, I had to stifle that laugh, in a major way, the wife is in bed ;o)

I'd simply point to this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octet_(computing)

Bear in mind - a byte isn't always 8 bits, and a nybble isn't always 4 bits, and a chunk isn't always 16/32/4/8 bits but a word is always double bit length :)

Unless you work on mainframe. Which is a whole different story ;)

I will take a look, thanks

There is something I just don't get.

You play Elite Dangerous....

Your sig suggests that you play as a trader....

Part of the game (from a traders perspective) is getting attacked by pirates, its just a professional hazzard....

The game is HUGE, the vast majority of pirates are NPC's....

So, why are you so bothered that just once in a while you may get attacked by a pirate that is NOT an NPC.... ? Why is that such a problem to you solo players.

It's simply because Elite Dangerous is not an online game in the sense you're used to from other online games. It was never meant to be and is never meant to be. So stop whining, and either play or quit already.
