HOW TO GRIND - Lugh system - Guide to Operation Dullahan

DISCLAIMER: it was brought to my attention that federal Commanders are numerous, well armed and looking for kills. You may want to try the following in Solo rather than Open Play. Or stay in Open Play and get ready for a huge fight ;)

Dear Commanders,

As you know war is waging in Lugh System. Galnet has been talking abour one operation named "Dullahan" that a lot of Commanders don't seem to understand. Here is what the operation is about.

First of all it is a community goal available at Hartsfield station, Lugh system. The goal displays "Lugh for equality" (fed) but it seems like a bug or an undercover. I am currently running cargo there I can assure you the money comes from the Crimson State Group and that the station is under CSG control at the moment. Be warned: this is a really grinding mission as each military intel you bring back is bought around 42k each, plus the extra you can make on the way (I will explain).

Here is how to proceed:
1) Go to Hartsfiled station (dah);
2) Sign up for the community goal;
3) Make sure you have a cargo hold as you are required to deliver canisters;
4) Go to the Convoy beacon;
5) Find the Lakon T9 called Principal Hauler;
6) Destroy its cargo hold, don't kill it;
7) Get the military intel
8) In your panel #4 switch to CSG and kill the federal ships to make extra cash in form of combat bounds;
9) Get back to the station WARNING your goods are illegal you need to sneak in;
10) Sell the stuff to the black market;
11) Enjoy the bunch of credits :)

Special tips:
a) It seems like the Lakon T9 is dropping at least 8 canisters, so outfit your ship accordingly (currently I even got 16 at once, 43k x 16 I let you see how great this is!);
b) Don't kill the Lakon T9, shoot the cargo hold;
c) The Lakon T9 has four turrets, it will probably destroy your limpet. Personally my 2 x C2 beam lasers are opening the hold super quickly!
d) Once the canisters are in the void don't bother of the feds, get the canisters first or the feds might destroy them;
e) If you signed up for the other community goal, kill the feds to get extra combat bounds!
f) The starport is not heavily guarded, smuggling the canisters won't be a problem;
g) REMINDER: you need to sell those on the black market, not in the bulletin board panel;
h) NOTE: I think siding with CSG at the convoy beacon is mandatory to get the reward. Not sure but it is safer to do so.

Bonus: screen shot of the community goal once it is not encrypted :D

So as a Lt in the Fed, should I be keeping my eye out for you, and try to destroy your ship as soon as you start shooting?
(In all honesty, I have no idea how these things work, community goals, claiming a side in war zones, etc.), I just trade and hunt at RES.

To hinder any bothersome federation involvement, we have found that two wings GENERALLY creates a new instance. CSG is asking any community members that have a desire for crazy money and a challenge to your piracy skills to advance this goal as quickly as possible.

@OP: ty for the introduction. we need each single commander to get the goal done! btw, may i add some tips?

-have a cargo scanner, the type9's drop *some* canisters when you harm its' cargohatch. after doing so, you'll find some remaining cans in its hold, which can be "force dropped" by..
-applying a limpet, preferably with the A-grade controller, it can launch 2 limpets (in case one gets shot) - its not expensive.
-the type9's are mostly equipped with multicannons aswell, those can aim for limpets, so you need to..
-take out the point defenses + multicannons. to do so:
-take down the drives to make it easier to dance-around the fat cow.

-there is *nothing* more frustating than a type9 with no: drives, shields, pointdefense, multicannons, and THEN have no limpet left. happened to me yesterday! so, sometimes...
-have a look at your cargo hold, you might want to estimate if its worth cracking a ship whilst having room for just 1 more ton

I edited the post: the T9 is actually dropping more than 8 intels. Also, killing the feds first is not always good as there might be a lot of them and they end up destroying the canisters.

Or you may join the CSG. Fast payment and more than 1m an hour :)

What is the CSG? And why would an Empire agent be interested to join other than credits? :D

Crimson State Group, currently fighting against the Federation. I am an agent of the Empire: everything bad for the Federation is good to the Emperor. Besides, the credits are currently flowing with more than 1 million an hours. I will get a cobra (more cargo) to go to 2 million an hour. This money will serve the Empire well!

Thanks for the tips! Damaging the cargo hatch to 20-40% rather than 0% did the trick.

The CSG, Crimson State Group, is a local player that strives for independence from the Federation & has a large contigent of commanders fighting for its cause.

Why join as an Empire agent? No reason, save for poking a finger in the eye of the Feds.

*Shakes fist at lowly empire goons, who are trying to disturb the goals of the glorious Federation.

Just to add to this, it doesn't actually matter where you obtain them from.

Say you signed up to the feds, you can go to the nearest convoy, and join the CSG faction, and shoot down the fed T9, get the intelligence from there and come back to the fed base and sell it off.

Pretty sure that it shouldn't work that way, but it does.

Disclaimer: I would never advocate such a thing, I know the General will be pretty mad seeing it's own military stealing it's own intelligence... in fact, pretend I didn't say anything... I wasn't...even....here....

I am too dumb for that. Thanks for the 20% tip. All my hatch breakers (B1) were shot down. And shooting the hatch to 0% didn't do anything.

OK just a quick update. I checked the time on my last "run", ie. stealing canisters and blasting some feds. I made around 900k in a bit less than 30 minutes. The trick is to jump out and come back right after. Just like CZ new ships, and therefore new Lakon T9 with new canisters will spawn.
I wish I had an ASP just to get my cargo hold full of those fancy intels :p

I just had a good run at this. The type 9 spawns back in fairly quickly without having to "reset" the instance.

One question, just for clarity? Do I need to turn in my combat bonds to the station that is having the war community goal (something that starts with a B) or am I getting credit by cashing them in at the same place as the military Intel base?

The combat bonds are being turned into the CSG so I assume I'm getting credit for both, but would just like independent confirmation

Does this mean that CSG is also an agent of the empire? Or is that just your role?

i prefer grinding combat for CSG. I'm a 15%er right now. Hope i can make it to 5. Unlikely though in a viper. I bet those 100 or so top 5% players do it all day long too. I get bored of anything after 3 hours.
