HOW TO GRIND - Lugh system - Guide to Operation Dullahan

One question, just for clarity? Do I need to turn in my combat bonds to the station that is having the war community goal (something that starts with a B) or am I getting credit by cashing them in at the same place as the military Intel base?

From what I have read in the community goals thread, you need to turn in the bonds at the station where you signed up for the goal (in this case Balandin Gateway), otherwise they will not count for the goal.

Nice explanatory thread.

Shame Frontier can't add enough information in the game itself for players to know what to do.

The in game Community Goal mentions nothing about the Convoy Beacon (it only refers to Lugh 6 in one sentence)
It mentions nothing about stealing from the Hauler.
It says nothing about where to turn in the containers.

Now, I don't want Frontier to spoon-feed us the information, but there is a huge gap between being spoon-fed and the complete lack of any relevant information in the Community Goals description currently.

It's a bit disheartening when people like the OP has to go beyond the call of duty (and basically doing what is Frontiers duty) by making a thread like this just to get more people interested in the Community Goal he is doing.

Hats off to the OP.

Frontier, room for improvement in this department.

i prefer grinding combat for CSG. I'm a 15%er right now. Hope i can make it to 5. Unlikely though in a viper. I bet those 100 or so top 5% players do it all day long too. I get bored of anything after 3 hours.

I'm in Lugh doing the Community Goal. I was in the Top 5%, but every day after work I am pushed down to the 15%, so I gotta fly out in the evening and go postal in the Conflict Zone. Usually at end of the session I am back up in the 5%.

I'm using a Vulture for this though. Benefit with Vulture (at least a Pulse fitted one) is no need to go back to rearm. You can just 'farm' until, well, until you either get bored or run out of fuel, the latter is highly unlikely to happen though. Even after hours in the Conflict zone I still have 90-95% fuel left.

I'm too invested in the combat bond community goal now to start working on the Cargo Container one. Otherwise I would try out that one too.

I can see your point but for me its about the self exploration than just hand holding........

Didn't take me long to see the "Convoy Beacon" to see that was new and then observe the area. As this is intel its not going to be on small ships but big transport so seeing the escorts triggered a investigation and a simple cargo scan, and boom....

Self gratification over go here do this, kill that get the item and bring it back here.....

Yes Please come on in....

On a Side note: normally in there are 2 - 4 Wings of Human plus a s*^t load of NPC's ...
Just saying, so come on in :)

damn.... how did I miss this?. Can anyone let me know how long this is due to run for?

I MAY get to go on tonight for an hr, (9.5hrs from now at 6pm GMT) though right now I am at leesti so not sure how much of a journey it is. (edit 72LY so I may even make a bit of money on my half load of Rares :) )

I fancy having a go at "piracy" its something I have never done before. (and the profits sound good too!)

thanks mate.... :D

with my "fighter Asp" it sounds like there is a lot of money to be made!.
I take it this will ruin my rep with the feds tho if i start blowing up their ships?

I do both, you get combat bonds for killing the Feds at the Convoy Beacon too!
It usually spawns an Anaconda and a Dropship along with the T9 and a small fleet of cobra, viper and condors.
2 or 3 Vultures in a wing make some serious money here...

I thought the same but I am currently handing my bounds in Hartsfield :) It is kind of funny to smuggle Feds intels in a Federal Port and to be paid for killing Feds at the same location.

Does this mean that CSG is also an agent of the empire? Or is that just your role?

My role. But who knows, maybe PowerPlay will start right after the 2 weeks Community goal is over. Maybe the Empire will jump, seeing an opportunity to nail 2 federal capital ships in the system.

Hi

will we all end up as enemies of the federation for doing this? Thanks

Hi,
I am currently not enemy with the Federation. Surprisingly should I say.
Strange enough it seems that blasting pilots in a conflict zone does not necessarily affect your reputation with their faction. I always side agaisnt the Federation in war zones and yet they don't show up as red until after I start shooting.

Speaking of which, I hope this will change. Currently, a lot of people are just switching sides. I am ok with people basically being mercenaries, but there should be faction or reputation impact IMHO.

cool thanks. i will get on this then, hopefully tonight if i get a pass (the boss is getting a bit irked at the hrs I am putting into elite lately ;) )

You should save up your bonds in between your trips for cannisters. Then when you've got a load of them, head over to Balandin Gateway to hand them in. That way they also contribute to the Spear of Lugh community goal.

Don't tell me the security is light on this station! I barely made it inside with the number of cops I had on me lol.

Still this is without a doubt the best community goal so far, if they even gave an objective a pirate like me can excel at! Extreme + points FD this is the first community goal I think is well thought out and fun for a reason other than grouping players!

Dear Commanders,

As you know war is waging in Lugh System. Galnet has been talking abour one operation named "Dullahan" that a lot of Commanders don't seem to understand. Here is what the operation is about.

First of all it is a community goal available at Hartsfield station, Lugh system. The goal displays "Lugh for equality" (fed) but it seems like a bug or an undercover. I am currently running cargo there I can assure you the money comes from the Crimson State Group and that the station is under CSG control at the moment. Be warned: this is a really grinding mission as each military intel you bring back is bought around 42k each, plus the extra you can make on the way (I will explain).

Here is how to proceed:
1) Go to Hartsfiled station (dah);
2) Sign up for the community goal;
3) Make sure you have a cargo hold as you are required to deliver canisters;
4) Go to the Convoy beacon;
5) Find the Lakon T9 called Primary Hauler;
6) Destroy its cargo hold, don't kill it;
7) Get the military intel
8) In your panel #4 switch to CSG and kill the federal ships to make extra cash in form of combat bounds;
9) Get back to the station WARNING your goods are illegal you need to sneak in;
10) Sell the stuff to the black market;
11) Enjoy the bunch of credits :)

Special tips:
a) It seems like the Lakon T9 is dropping at least 8 canisters, so outfit your ship accordingly (currently I even got 16 at once, 43k x 16 I let you see how great this is!);
b) Don't kill the Lakon T9, shoot the cargo hold;
c) The Lakon T9 has four turrets, it will probably destroy your limpet. Personally my 2 x C2 beam lasers are opening the hold super quickly!
d) Once the canisters are in the void don't bother of the feds, get the canisters first or the feds might destroy them;
e) If you signed up for the other community goal, kill the feds to get extra combat bounds!
f) The starport is not heavily guarded, smuggling the canisters won't be a problem;
g) REMINDER: you need to sell those on the black market, not in the bulletin board panel;
h) NOTE: I think siding with CSG at the convoy beacon is mandatory to get the reward. Not sure but it is safer to do so.

Some comments, questions and impressions.

About 5): At least for me the T9 always seems to be called "Principal Hauler".
About 8): How do I do that? I mean how do I pick a side. It simply doesn't seems to work for me.
About d): I don't know what kind of ship you fly but if I try that (ignoring the feds while collecting the canisters) they're going to shoot my fully pimped Cobra to pieces.

In general I think this another not really thought through "goal" to appease the com at least bit but it's so purely and wrongly executed that I'm already fed up with it. I mean I'm a Fed pilot, can take a mission against the Feds on a Fed station, have too shoot Feds to fulfill the goal (ok, maybe not a must) and have to smuggle stolen Fed data into one of their stations. Does that makes any sense to anybody!?! Am I getting something so completely wrong that I think this is totally...you know?

It is called Principal Hauler, you choose your side on the last tab on the right hand side, it should be right at the top and how much pewpew you take while scooping depends how much federal stuff is still fighting, and how distracted it is lol most of the time you could get by with a cobra however sometimes you'd need something bigger.

5) Yeah you are right, I corrected my OP;
8) I pick a side in the usual panel liek any other CZ. I iis not clear to me why you cannot;
d) I am flying a tiny Viper, ie. weaker than your Cobra. You need to be fast and get the canisters as quick as you can. Also, sometimes it is easy because the feds are getting kicked, sometimes it is more difficult. In general I feel liek destroying the T9 helps, because that guy is an angry space trucker, he will blow you if you let him.

As for the goal people posting here seems to like it. If you are a fed pilot obviously it does not make sense. Remember that despite the name this goal is actually made to help CSG, not the Federation! If you wanna grind as fed you can try Lugh 11 with the federal capital ship, or simply go the the "normal" CZ.

Wow holy cow, 168 intels. Sweet!! Keep up the good work.
FYI I am flying a Viper, and got scanned only twice but I am too fast to let them complete the scan. With 168 tons in your hold I assume you have a big ass ship ;-)

Thanks for your reply and the hint with Lugh 11.

Btw, he was obviously flying a Python (see lower right corner of screenshot).
