Correct Pronunciation of Lave

Does anyone know how to correctly pronounce Lave? It has been bothering me for a few days and I really want to know.
I figure there are 2 ways:

Lave as in shave
or
Lave as in lar-hey or lar-va

or who knows how else. Please, someone put me out of my misery.

Depends on where you are from I guess, the -shave pronunciation would be very much an American "a" sound.

English or Australian "a" sound with pronounce it closer to "o" and "i" sound, so Lave would be more like "larve"
