Fails to mention that he was in a Wing breaking PVE rules. What a real eye opener. :p

This is why I think it would be worth revisiting the PvP Flag idea.
As the old argument about don't want PvP go to groups and solo was proven to be pointless, another way needs to be looked in to for those who want to be social, without PvP to play the game.

I lost count of the things that would "kill the game" from Beta and onwards.

The lack of 2 real factions,
Atari being in charge,
PWE being in charge,
Lockboxes,
Cash shop in a sub based game,
Cash shop in a free to play game,
Change of leadership (that they do every 18 months),
Lack of PvP

This game is no different, the PvP crowd whine and moan for more targets, more rewards, more, more, more - they got what they want in EVE, stomped out in STO ~ 2 ends of the spectrum.

Lets hope FD aim for in the middle of that spectrum.
Yeah, I remember those days. =) All the predictions of doom. The forum arguments were quite epic. So they turned around and stomped out PvP completely?

Well that's me done in Open whilst I have just a Type 7 until I go back to my Asp. Too many players with big ships and wonder weapons. Just lost nearly 2m - Asp with 2 shots destroyed me. High rated shields gone and down to 22% hull with one shot. Open seems like for those already with the big stuff. Had been in Open since Beta.

And that is the price you pay for playing in a social environment, something you choose to do.
Those doing the same in solo, miss out on local chat and interactions with others, that is their payment for choosing solo mode.

Both sides have lost out on something to partake in the way the player wants, so why should the rewards change after you've paid your price?
It's like a bookie saying you own them extra after your horse comes in first, you backed your horse, you paid your bet + taxes, the bookie does not get a second bite at your reward.

Solo, Group and Open all have ups and downs for each aspect of the game.

Solo doesn't necessarily miss out on those player interactions. There is private too. Those who play solo and even avoid private don't feel like they are missing out because they don't want those interactions, they aren't paying anything.

The problem is people who don't like to play solo are being forced to play solo if they want their vote to effectively count in the dueling community goals.

Well, PvP is still in the game, but not easy to get a match - apart from Kerrat, a few people still hang about there.
But for the most part, PvP got left to die a lonely death, and now the Romulans players are feeling as neglected as the KDF - as the favourite child (Fed PvE) gets all the attention.

So, if you're a Fed and you only do PvE - quids in, lots for you to do.
KDF or RRW who like to play PvP (or even dabble in it) - you can listen to its final breaths as the last few lose the will to fight for it.

Well, you can try strong signal sites alone in open, and you can try strong signal sites in a wing in private.

But I never said anything about signal sources. I am specifically pointing out dueling combat related community goals.

A lot of pure solo players, backed the game in KS, for an offline game - they are paying a price, the price of being forced online when that is not what they paid real money for.
But thanks for ignoring those people and and belittling what happened to them and making it look trivial.

I think they paid more than enough for there community goal rewards a long time ago, and now you want to take that away from them?

Cold, just plain cold.

Really? i though KDF and RRW where happy hunting and killing Feds all the time.

Other games have this and it's simple. If you flag yourself for pvp then other players can target you and attack. If not then you're safe. So how would that translate to ED?

If you are not flagged for PVP then a Commanders ship can not Interdict you and can not hurt your ship with weapons. I think stopping ramming damage might be a stretch.

Maybe it should be a choice when you select Open. "Do you wish to be flagged for PVP, Commander?" if you select yes then you are flagged for PVP for 24 hours. This would keep clowns from flagging and then unflagging themselves.

And it would work both ways. Not flagged for PVP? then your weapons can't hurt another commander.

It's a bit silly and a real stretch considering this game is supposed to be about realism and this is unrealistic. But there's a lot of unrealistic silliness going on anyway and too many other threads talking about it to start here.

By hunting and killing Feds, I assume you mean Kerrat, where last time I went there, it was 5 Feds to 1 KDF.
The last time I went near the PvP queues was when talk of non faction random mixing of people came up - that was me done, the idea of Fed, RRW and KDF all mixed up in 5 on 5 - don't even see why there is factions in that game now, as all PWE have done is merge them all in to 1 big Fed family.

But hey, I have my B'rel - so it's not all bad ;)

So i'm not playing?
I'm not sure if i want something of what you are smoking...

Solo players are playing the environment... and they shouldn't be able to?
Take away the environment (and that includes the possibility to influence the galaxy) and there isn't any solo play left.

Have you ever try to do the community goals in solo? how you know is that easy?

STO goers?!? lol I haven't logged into that game in a month. Stopped after i got my rom to 60 and scimitar to mostly epic gear. i even bought the new T6 command cruisers and felt like a turd afterwards. sure the trait was ok but not worth the ridiculous price of the ships.

Also a bit annoying the the Scimitar is still the top ship in the game for roms.

Oh and STO has pvp?? :D ;)

Whining and dictating how others should play the game are two VERY different things. My point still stands.

Here we go again with the status-quo arguments..

You'd still have access to all features. You would simply have two different saves.

Then that's the ANSWER , or the question..WHY don't we have two,or multi character saves for this game?
Every other game I have I cann have multi character saves and play in different 'styles' .Think there SHOULD be that option for elite ,
And sole player uses solo character in multi play IT not allowed, only character that has been "built" in that version of play allowed. ( sorry hard to explain English :( ).
