DIY Head Tracker For A Tenner

Running latest firmware etc. I've restored to factory and redone the mag calibration several times, it all seems similar to my last one but I still get the return motion...

For all you 3D printer owners out there, I made a little desk clamp to hang my headset on.... works a treat!

Yeah, seen that (well, another video, the eifel tower one), very cool :) guessing it might be a while before it's affordable for Joe Public mind :) !

Show off! :)

On a related note, I've actually found a good place for my headset hook, which is behind my monitor. So when I'm not using the headphones, they're complete hidden/out of the way, behind the monitor.

Can you post a screenshot of you mag calibration (with the green and red blobs) ?

One thing to try is another orientation (usb left vs usb right o visa versa)... and also make sure your tracker isn't upside down. The code assumes the mpu9150 breakout is face up.

Cheers,

Rob

9150 board is face up and I've tried all combinations of orientation setting and actual orientation and get this each time.

Thanks

Looks like my ED Tracker died!

I can't calibrate it with either the 9150 sketch or the non magnetometer version. For whatever reason I get yaw but no pitch.

I doesn't even seem to register when I run the calibration. Anyone got any ideas?

Hey,
got a problem with the 9150

i bought one from Drotek http://www.drotek.fr/shop/en/home/153-mpu9150-gyro-accelerometer-magnetometer.html

Uses a 6050 before which was working fine.

The Drotek one uses 0x69 as address instead of 0x68, so i cant use the build in sketches from the EDTracker2-GUI.
So i DL the "EDTracker-9150-master" copied the extracted edtracker.zip to Arduino/hardware/.
Choose the EDTracker in Arduino IDE.
Uncommented the "#define MPU9150_69" line in RTIMULibDefs.h.
And flashed the EDTrackerMag.ino sketch.

The Gyro is working but the Magneto Meter is not working.

Anyone got any ideas? Wrong Magnetometer address maybe?

Hardware and Wiring is OK, tested it with the MultiWii Quadrocopter Sketch

edit:

got it working with the new updated sketch and editing the inv_mpu.c :)

Hello Chaps,

I just thought I would make a post. I ordered a pre-built EDTracker and it arrived today. Initially I had a problem (the USB cable was not working) but I recieved prompt support from the guys and a trip to maplins sorted it out. Now having tried EDTracker in game, I must say I am incredibly impressed. I have a long history of flight simming with Track IR. After having the 3rd one break on me (albiet over a ten year period) I was keen to try a cheaper alternative. EDTracker is great! It feels precise and fluid. It is at least as good as Trackir (ok no 6DOF) and I am totally impressed with the service.

Thanks again guys!

Is there any way to or plans to get EDTracker working in OSX?

I'd like to participate in the Mac beta but I've become so accustomed to EDTracker that playing without head look is a non starter.

I think/thought it works fine from the joystick perspective on Macs, doesn't it (I don't have one to test it out)? I vaguely remember someone trying it out back in the early days.... but understandably the .NET software won't run as-is, I accept that. I put my hands up to not being very Mac-savvy I'm afraid :(

Maybe someone can clarify....
