DIY Head Tracker For A Tenner

Does anyone have a link to the Gui V.2.0.2.5 version? The new ones give me grief and I need a backup copy in case my machine needs to be reinstalled. Thanks

The only older version I have is 2.0.1.0. I didn't keep it for any reason other than I didn't play ED for a few months and that was still in my downloads folder. So don't know if its a decent build or not.

Not that specific one, but if it helps, the last of the 2.x.x.x....?

Perfect. Thanks Brumster. I was hoping someone would have a link to the older one, even if it is not quite the specific one. Saves me sending a Pleading Email to you anyways. :)

I do have a question since I have your attention. Does the new Wireless play ok with USB3 ports? What about USBC with port converters? May have to upgrade the old box this year and a wireless is in my sights. Thanks in advance.

It's fine on USB3 ports, yes, I use it myself on one. I think most issues people have are just down to poor drivers, mainly with early mothboards that adopted USB3. It's not a common problem any more.

As for USBC, I can't honestly say, I've not heard of anyone using it on one, but I can't think why it wouldn't, provided the converter honours the USB data packets (for flashing) and obviously gives 5v from a charging perspective.

PSA: recalibrate the magnetometer after attaching an Antlion ModMic to your headphones or you will get very dizzy. [yesnod]

Nice little mic, but expect adhesion problems with open back headphones. You will probably need additional 3m adhesive sheets before you get the magnet to stick well. And then that's 3 cables to your head...

I'm using Sennheiser HD580 which have a mesh back. Cleaned with the included IPA wipe but the first try didn't stick too well. Luckily they also include a good few spare adhesive disks and the second one stuck fine after I had the bright idea of removing the boom after alignment and leaving just the clasp on the headphones for a good hour to cure. Now it's rock solid.

The cable management wasn't too bad. They give you 10 rather nice s-shaped reusable cable clips which I ran with for a couple of days to make sure I was happy with the layout I'd chosen. That done, I took off all but the first and last and used the included cable sleeve to cover in between them. Now it's much tidier than when I started. Very happy.

Interesting little problem for anyone who might have half a clue, can't figure it out for the life of me. Running an X99 Intel build with an MSI x99A SLI Plus motherboard, and with my EDTracker plugged in, it won't finish the POST. I get the BIOS splash screen, and it just sits there. Unplug the EDTracker, and it carries on as normal.

Anyone with any ideas, gratefully received!

All USB ports or just one?

Bit of a long shot, a technique I saw recommended on r/buildapc is to test each USB port with a USB 3 hub, as that is one of the few devices to have all the USB 2 and USB 3 pins connected. Not sure whether it needed to be a powered USB 3 hub.

Probably a bug in the BIOS - it's probing the EDTracker to see if it's a keyboard, mouse, disk or something else it needs to know about at boot time, doesn't know what to do with it, and goes off into its corner of the boot ROM for a good long cry. Annoying, but not much you can do besides hope an updated BIOS makes it more robust.

Just for transparency, I'm no longer involved in EDTracker Ltd... will continue to contribute where I can, particularly the DIY side where the GitHub is under my account, but I won't be replying in any formal capacity any more, so please don't take my silence as anything bad against the company... Rob is still involved, don't worry ;)
