Please add a Hardcore game mode!

Please can we get another server that's exclusively for online play only! Without the "Solo Ghosting" that just about every trader is doing. Even if you solve the combat log issue all it is going to do is deter people from playing in Open more than they already are. I'm getting tired of finally finding a player with a massive bounty on their heads, for them to jump to another system and then they log into Solo! No point tracking them at all!

I honestly do get the reasoning behind having persistence from both Open and Solo, it just seems like a cop out for the excuse of DRM whilst saving money.

There are no hard numbers that I am aware of at the moment to say that most traders are playing only solo.

I Also feel I have to point out that solo offers something that open does not - smaller bandwidth. This allows people to play the game via a slow connection or even via their phone. Therefore it opens up the game to allow more people to play and enjoy it. For me that is reason enough to have it.

The plan was to not allow people with bounties in open to switch game modes. I have no idea why this hasn't happened yet.

There's no need for hard numbers, everyone knows this is pretty much a reality in this game. Solo offers "Smaller Bandwidth" why does it need bandwidth at all? Oh right "persistence", why can't they offer a "Solo" only persistence rather than being able to play Solo and reap the benefits in Open as well? It's a bad excuse to use DRM and cut costs rather than having to pay for separate servers. There's literally no other logical reason to have the two sharing the same persistent galaxy, it simply just opens the game to an exploit they will never be able to stop.

I both agree and disagree... I don't like the idea of people switching to solo because in certain situations it makes the game "easier" but ultimately it doesnt greatly effect me. The solution of having two separate galaxies (or hundreds if you include individual groups) doesn't sit easy with me. The final option of scrapping solo also seems unfair. I had issues in the past with being unable to play at all in open (I live in saudi) and solo was my only option.
I am a trader and have worked my way up to entrepreneur exclusively in open, though I appreciate that doesn't mean every other has too.

I don't honestly see an acceptable solution other than the one currently in place. I would though make open more enticing to players by making it more lucrative to play in than open and making the consequences for "griefing" (such as in stations etc) more severe.

You pretty much have answered yourself - it was probably the cost in development time an the servers they would need. I think with this game there are always going to be people who do not like the split between solo and open.

And since you do not need hard numbers, I think the majority of players are probably happy with solo and open using the same background simulation :)

I agree, making open more appealing to play in is a good idea. Let the player choose rather than be forced. They are currently looking at the community goals with this in mind.

Until they fix bounties and add real weight and realistic penalties for murder, people will kill for fun....that's what happens when you let anyone buy anything for credits regardless of rank or military standing.

But that would mean adding content!

As if people wouldn't kill for fun even if there were consequences?

Please.

For me it is the rebuy cost of higher end ships that makes me go solo.
If you shoot me down in my upgraded Python, I have to spend 11M to buy it back. that is 5 hours of trade grinding.

I don't think we should be able to switch from Multiplayer to solo if we have a high bounty on our head.

£100,000 bounty (per kill) that cant be paid off for a few days + NPCs that actively hunt you + more frequent location/bounty updates making it easier for players to find you + rep/rank penalty with a faction (sure the feds wouldn't like a lieutenant commander killing civilians)

That would pretty much make more than half think twice about going on a rampage and would actually encourage real PVP bounty hunting both ways, and still have consequences that carry over to solo.

That would work nicely

I was thinking about this the other day... that maybe a "restitution" amount (a percentage of the killed player's ship and cargo costs) should be added to the bounty. Not that the killed player gets that back... but you'd think getting hit with hundreds to millions in bounties for a murder might make a PK'er think twice about arbitrarily killing players. On the other hand, rocketing someones bounty up really fast makes it ripe for abuse through bounty/kill trading. The other problem is if a BH goes after a pirate who's not wanted in the system... they would get hit with that fine as well unless it was only tied to those with completely clear records.

For sure! I think they could get round it though buy adding bounty in comparison for the rank they hold in each faction system, for example if they killed a someone with Baron rank in empire but also a lieutenant in Federation they would have wanted status for both factions, but not as much as recruit or outsider respectively.

To stop the bounty farming trade/exploit they need to think of other way to penalize players other than credits, possibly pilots federation rank decrease?
