i'm fine with being forced into "hard mode" when "hard mode" means interaction with other players that isn't just last-hit sniping and combat logging.
And you wouldnt do if you had a £900 graphic card in your hull? Will Frontier honour someone who combat-logs the ware? I wouldnt blame them to be honest.
Given that they've specifically called combat logging an exploit, I expect not
This is a poor decision to make it only available in open play. There are those that do not pvp or do not have a ship for pvp.
A competition should be open and fair to all levels and abilities. Open play was not a caveat when it was accidentally posted earlier in the week. Just another example of FD worrying about the few vocal critics on the forums.

Open play is their main mode. Solo and group play are there for you to opt out of any unwanted interactions, a self policing system. There's a quote from Sandro somewhere describing this in detail, one of the mods posted it in the solo vs open threads.
how would one find a rare good though? just by going station to station?
True, but it would stop you from passing on the ware onto a pirate. So even if you ejected it and got another, at-least you would stop someone claiming yours.
If the godel station truly doesn't have a black market and the game allows you to "drop" cargo illegally so it appears stolen to anyone who picks up then it is trolololo to any pirate

Doubt it will be at hutton orbital as its a outpost and has no large landing pads ..
but they didn't claim that station where it's sold is not going to be outpost, did they? i'd expect it to be outpost, light years from anything...
Who gives a damn about main mode or not, I play the game how and when I choose and should have an equal opportunity to win the prize without having the run the gauntlet of better equipped or better skilled human pilots.
I am absolutely fine dodging computer controlled adversaries.
I doubt it will be at an outpost or a system that requires a permit, going by FD saying they expect this competition to "Go Fast" It will probably be at a station near Lave, one of the classic stations.
