What's up with the Launcher requiring a 3rd party framework (mono)? I hope that requirement will be removed when the Mac client launches.

Not very likely I guess. Whilst I agree it's not ideal, it's also not that big a deal - it takes a few hundred meg.

Yep, the PC software is developed in .Net and Mono is an Open Source implementation of the .Net Framework so it makes sense they'd use it in order to make porting to the the Mac a bit simpler.

Wasn't one of the original backers...

...but good luck folks!

I have 3 Macs: A twin Xeon beast, a 2011 27-inch Fischer Price computer :) and a 15-inch Retina. If you'd like me to make a donation and join the Beta program then reach out. Other than that: looking forward to the release.

A New Eden refugee :)

1.3 CONFIRMED in "a few weeks time"!!!!!!

:D

Wot no alarming GIF? ;) :D

You're slacking...

Oh and someone is running it successfully on a MBP 13" with Intel 4000 inside at 35-45fps... apparently it's 'getting a bit hot' though

There are some problems with the Mac-Version in general.

- whats with TrackerIR5? (software from developer only for Win platform)
- Teamspeak is useable, but some overlay-plugins not?
- Saitek-HOTAS-Application Software for Mac?
- Voice Attack?
- ...

There is an infrastructure of tools and programms for Win-plattform only, I think.

Thanks for all the hard work guys! Gives me the possibility to play Elite while I travel :D

Just a quick Q?

I have beta access, downloaded the launcher and mono, no problem. The launcher asks me for a verification code, how long does that typically take in the e-mail?

Cheers!

[EDIT] GOT IT :D YAY, downloading

Given this is a platform beta rather than a new content beta i wondered if they were going to relax the beta requirement since i'm guessing they could use all the testing they could manage for this .... I'd like to test but i only backed the game - never went for the beta (regret)

Requiring mono is fine, but could mono be bundled with Elite app instead of separate download? Some of Mac Java app's give option of Java being bundled with the app so it's always up to date instead of relying on OS keeping that version updated. Plus smoother user experience for installation.
