Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

did you think about doing this before i suggested it on here (and later on TS) a couple weeks ago, or was i the catalyst for renaming? cause that would be nuts! either way, it's another super cool guy move from FDev and i'm excited to be a part of it!

Well, I did approach Michael about renaming the stations in the Lugh system months ago but yes, you certainly were the catalyst for changing the names of planets :)

This is such an insanely good idea to be able to personalise a struggle for a group in ED and much kudos to Frontier for recognising it as a superb way to lock in the involvement of the players. It also make ED stand out from any other game I can think of.

May be a good idea for them to look at some way to create a background mechanism to allow groups to be able to do this after a significant investment of time and effort in a system. Apart from everything else it would also make sense that planets get named if they are settled systems ... (people would never leave a planet as Lugh 1,2 etc).

Was it a haulage run where cargo is provided and you just have to deliver?
As I still get this issue occasionally on those missions

Yes, it was a simple 44ton delivery from Hartsfield to Sesuang. If this happens only occasionally it'll be impossible to avoid, which is somewhat contra-productive. Pity.

I've seen prior mission "mis-adventures" save up their impact on various things, and have it displayed cumulatively, the next time I get an actual post-mission report pop-up.

Stuff like having an assassination mission time out. Deleting it from the TRANSACTIONS header doesn't show anything, but I'll sometimes see what I assume to be its negative impact bleeding over into the NEXT pop-up mission thing...

Dunno if it's a bug, or a feature! :)

I'm afraid my current slowdown is going to have to be a longer hiatus.

My wrists hate me. :(

Not that I blame them. ;) Twenty years ago, I managed to give myself a nasty case of tendinitis by playing Ultima Online way too much. To this date, every so often I have to take a two week break from gaming to give them a rest. I had been hoping that by alternating between Elite Dangerous (HOTAS) and other games (keyboard and mouse) I might be able to slow down the inevitable, but it isn't working. :(

So it's time to step away from the computer, get some new Anime and a few novels, and try to ignore the itching from my wrist splints.

Remember kids: when playing games, take frequent breaks, and for the love of God, posture matters!

Nooo! Rest up, take care of those gaming wrists! Sounds terrible.

Everyone else, I'm afraid it's still "do more missions"! Our influence had been going up nicely but took a dive yesterday, so we need to keep building up enough of a buffer before we dare slack at all.

yeah, we talked about it last night on TS. not sure if the suggestions are kosher to be posted here, i'd recommend sending roybe/orfeboy a PM

Can someone give me a quick run down as to what has happened since the day war ended,
i have been away and going back through the thread there seems to be a lots of unrelated conversations happening.

Gosh, um...

  • Influence has been all over the place, initially critically low but now reasonable but rather volatile
  • With recent changes it seems that missions are now the driver for influence; trade doesn't seem to do so much
  • FD have given preliminary approval for us to choose a name for Lugh 6. Get in touch with orfeboy for more on that
  • A couple of folks have been suggesting what we should do next outside Lugh, but their suggestions don't fit with orfeboy's plans. More on that soon I'm sure!
  • Our agreement to get help from the Mercs of Mikunn will require some of us to go over and help them when they ask. But that's not right now.

I'm going to be representing us on Lave Radio's Conclave programme (here's the first) which is going to be recorded this evening and released in about a week's time. Also on is Monte Fisto from the Mercs and Liquid Capnip, the founder (I think) of East India Company. It's not role playing but a discussion programme about how groups like ours work in ED and how they could be made better.

On that topic, one of the questions it looks like we'll get is: Which features and functionalities would we like to see Frontier include in the game to support groups/clans/meta game functionality? Thoughts?

Further improvements to the in-game chat like the ability to create private channels in addition to the hard-coded local and wing channels, so that it is easier to send the same message to several persons without sending it to everyone around at the same time or the necessity to be in a wing.

Also the ability to create categories in our friend lists, so that we don't need to keep track of who is a member of the Lugh Freedom Fighters, Mercs, etc. outside of the game. If we could collapse / expand these categories it would also make it easier to read through a crowded friend list.

Finally, the ability to send a delayed message to someone who is not currently connected would make coordinating large groups much easier, as not everyone is necessarily around at the same time. But since ED uses p2p connection I don't think we will ever see this in the game.

Just checking in. I am in currently approximately 1200ly from Lugh doing a bit of exploration. Hopefully I will be back with a boat load of exploration data for the cause, but who knows ... space is deep.

Friends of Lugh

I ask you to take a look at what we have accomplished so far. Look at it! We changed things in here. We have accomplished something beautiful. We cannot take the foot off the pedal now. We are not safe. We are not home yet.

We won that war but we must hold onto what we have struggled to gain. Freedom!

Take missions for CSG. Fight for Lugh. Fight for freedom.

Let's show the aggressors our resolve!

Keep it going ladies and gents. Giddy up!

I'll be back in system tomorrow. Took a wander over to Empire space tonighht to cash in some of the bounties I've racked up.

what % did we end up at today, after all our hard work last night? :p

No update since yesterday evening's 49.1%. I've done 31 missions today and I've not finished yet, so I'm hoping that we'll have made some headway...
