these asteroids drive me nuts [exploration]

is there any way we can NOT label every asteroid cluster as "UNEXPLORED"?
it's maddening to have to cycle through all those asteroids when you're going through the navigation list. and the only way to tell if it's an asteroid is to select it and check the hologram image...it's incredibly annoying sometimes - when you're looking for that one metal rich planet inside 2 belts of asteroids...
click-click, down. click, click, down. ad infinitum.
i know you can infer whether an item is an asteroid cluster or not SOMETIMES by the distance - but when you get out to the middle of a system and every distance is 3 or 4 digits long - and there's 20 asteroid clusters - it's REALLY frustrating to pick out the things that are actual planets.
it also drives my OCD NUTS to have them remain "UNEXPLORED" when everything else is scanned.
if you insist on keeping them thus - at least make scanning them worth something.

when you select each UNEXPLORED it shows you on the holo display what you have selected no matter how far away it is... unless this has changed since the I was last out in the black.

Yes, the OP mentioned that. But I agree, when you have to select 20 of them just to get a planet or star, it does become annoying. Especially when there are several such clusters in a system. Just going through one of these myself and I am slightly off-put.

Yes really. Not sure what are you shaking your head at? That the OP mentioned it already and you just said the same thing without reading his post carefully? Me too.

I wish... I think given the initial scan returns the body type (belt, star, planet etc.), there should be either a filter or a small image next to each line in the navigation list.

Unless something else has change since I've docked, you don't get any credits from scanning the damn things anyway.

I wish they'd put the HUD icon on the object selector display.

Apparently in a future version the system map will be clickable/selectable.

After exploring them they should get a random name, perhaps let player tag them with custom names.
 
I just did a day of exploration and agree that is a major hassle (made even worse by the hologram not being visible when you look to the left-hand panel)

It would also be nice+easy to show the star/planet/asteroid icon left of the unexplored entry, even before you go exploring it. Since the hologram image already gives it away, it is no secret.

The root problem...why are asteroid clusters deemed worthless? This is the kind of thinking we used to have about our own solar system, oh, it's all about the same out there, one moon is like another. And we learned the opposite.

We should find asteroid belts with high and low values, some with rich deposits, some not. From an exploration POV, there should be SOME value put on them, if nothing else, from a navigation point of view for later travelers.
 
I sooooo agree with this !!! Please, make at least an option to hide belt clusters in the navigation tab. They're useless (worth no money) and take hours to scan (for nothing). Nobody cares for asteroids as nobody pays a simple cred for info about them. So my navigation tab shouldn't care neither !!! Asteroids just damage my ship when i'm cruising at full speed, but i can't see them on HUD, even after scanning them, so... I hate them, really. Only negative impact on gameplay.

And as well, make the same kind of option to hide USS please ! When i'm exploring, in a non armed ship, the last thing I wanna do is to go to the nearest USS just to have a look and see if an angry pirate will try to destroy me for peanuts. So i don't need to see USS in my nav tab these moments.

AND FIX THE SURFACE SCANNER BUG (it sometimes/often scans 2 times the same thing). Exploration is long and not so rewarding, so just help us and make it less boring/annoying.
