Hey y'all, midway through day one and it looks like the pre-flight area is starting to fill up. Nice to see a mix of new faces and old. As far as the big board, CMDR Jaryd Moonshadow has managed to make it up into the Big Black.
So, before the rest of you start posting times and ruin it for me, I'd just like to say
IN YOUR FACE JARYD! Wooooooooooooooo! I'm #1 Baby! Eat my FSD wake, son!
Sorry, have to get that in while I can.
Meanwhile, welcome aboard Marshall and RobinJB! Sorry if there was any confusion in the rules. You probably just didn't read them right, because I never,
ever make mistakes. Right guys?
Right?
And also welcome back to some returning veterans! CMDR Samwell Drakhyr is back with his Cobra
Back of Beyond, which took an amazing 10th place in BBR6 in a field full of longer-ranged Haulers and Asps. Also welcome back Cheetah for his fourth Buckyball, also a part of the very tight fight for first in BBR6, and of course, CMDR Reload, 2nd place finisher of BBR6 and champion of Buckyball 5. Reload's signature dish is "Hauler Flambé," a delightful entree where you take an ordinary Zorg-Peterson Hauler, heat it to 6,000 degrees and serve smashed on a docking pad with a fluffy topping of flame retardant foam. Cady City's gonna be SO happy to see you, Reload! Welcome back!
Thanks, I get it now. So one persons game plan might be to hit three stations in one system, 2 in another and 2 in another for example. Thats an interesting dynamic. Leaves room for all sorts of possible best routes.
Yeah, we're mixing it up a little this time around. Rather than a straight A-B-C affair, I wanted to give CMDRs in all different kinds of ships some options. In previous races, jump range pretty much kept the Haulers in front. This time, supercruise technique and docking skills play a much bigger part... But as with all the previous races, it's route planning which will really give commanders an edge. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this race turns out. Back in Buckyball 3 there seemed to be a ceiling for the Sidewinder class that no one could break, until one Commander figured out how to shave off a jump and turned the race upside down. I'm hoping for that kind of magic here.
Anyway, sorry for any confusion in the race rules. I went back and tweaked them a bit to make it a bit clearer, but I did still leave the fine print in there just to see which CMDRs are paying attention.

Robin, Marshall, if you wouldn't mind going back and checking them out again for clarity, I'd appreciate it!
