Fasten your seatbelts... Day 1 of Buckyball Run 7 has concluded! Belly on up to the bar and have a few as we go over the numbers...
First off the welcomes. At the top of the list are two returning champions from Buckyball 6, CMDR Alot winner of the Open Unlimited, and CMDR Gurlagg, taking Open Sidewinder. Both bringing back their Sideys for a rematch. You two play nice, at least as nice as you can flying max speed through the slot... We also welcome first-timer CMDR Anuranium, bringing the first Type 6 into the race. Looking forward to a few Lasercow BBQ's on the landing pad. And finally, take a bow Jackie Silver, for her 6th run with the Buckyball! Jackie's been around since the start, always bringing something new to the grid. This time, it's the first Fer-de-Lance in Buckyball history. Can't wait to see what impact it has on the race, both in terms of performance and size of the crater it'll leave in the docks.
Now, onto the racing circuits...
The big news continues to be my sustained DOMINANCE in the Solo Unlimited and Open Sidewinder classes. While CMDR Moonshadow took a shot at the King, he missed. And in Open Sidewinder, what can I say? There IS no competition. Y'all might as well not even try.
Solo Sidewinder is being archived until someone actually shows up to race it. I might make a run just before midnight on the last day to claim a championship. Am I that petty and underhanded? I think you know the answer to that...
Meanwhile in Open Unlimited, I'm in last. Not much else to say. I'm heading to the bar. See y'all tomorrow.
What? I have to read the rest of this? Fine.
Open Unlimited saw a flurry of activity as seven pilots streaked out of Cady City only to turn around and come right back a little while later. In that time, insurance premiums at the station shot up 400%. First time Buckyballer CMDR Kligg and CMDR Drakhyr traded blows in their Cobras Bingo and Back of Beyond respectively, with Cheetah in the Hauler Brown Alert in hot pursuit. But their private little race was interrupted by a continuation of Buckyball 6 as dueling champions Alot in the Eagle Eagle 2 Landing and Gurlagg in the Viper Slolly II swatted them aside. The Eagle was able to hold off the Slolly, but something tells me the rest of the week is going to see lots of back and forth between these two rivals. First time Buckyballer CMDR Anuranium gave the Lakon 6 it's BBR7 debut, wasting no time after registering at Cady to launch the Lasercow before turning up at the bar to "refuel." Let's see how long this rest stop lasts. Welcome to the Run!
And finally, sneaking under the wire for the day, CMDR Reload made his triumphant reappearance in the Viper Momentum Mori, snatching 8th place after a lengthy interdiction along his course. You weren't speeding or anything, were ya Reload?
Drakhyr, your second dot dropped off after someone made a particularly hard landing in the bay next to the Shotgun Shine. I keep telling Bucky to splurge for decent adhesive but you know how he is. It'll be on the board after the next update. Because if there's anything as important as getting the bumper sticker for the race, it's getting your dot.
Dang it! Giler told me that he had 50 A2's that "fell" off the back of a Lakon Type 9. Tell you what, slide over to Shesmu, a short hop from No Chianga. They had good gear there. If other CMDRs have trouble scoring an A2, let me know we'll knock it down to B2 to keep it fair for everyone since no one else has posted times yet. Better still, why don't you all just skip Open Sidewinder. The standings there are fine as is.
I dunno... Be an interesting stat to track. Or a very, very upsetting one.
Anyone want to fess up?
Stay tuned for tomorrow's exciting episode!

Here's my Sidey challenge entry - though No Chiang isn't selling A2 FSD's at the moment, so I have a B2 FSD until one turns up.

My ship destruction count for BBR7 is now at 6! (2xViper, 1xEagle, 3xSidewinder). What's the record?
