I have my first Empire mission which is to smuggle toxic waste, problem is the station prohibits it so im not sure if they will just shoot me!
You gotta align your ship with the slot from a ways out, then get up a head of steam, boost, then go into silent running and get in the slot before you get scanned or burn up.
I usually wait until I get offered the smuggling missions from an outpost rather than an orbital.
But now that you've taken the mission, soldier on!!

Ah right, so can I land with the toxic waste in the station without the station shooting me? Once im in there im safe kinda thing?
Once you're in the slot you're OK. If a cop scans you, you'll get a ridiculously stiff fine, but you can still (I believe) deliver the goods (at a credit loss) So try to get in the slot without getting killed. Once you're in the slot, relax and land safely. Do NOT forget to ask landing clearance before you run in!
(If you take the mission and don't deliver the goods it'll drop your rep, so - try not to die. The Emperor - long may we bask in his glory - expects his nobles to be supremely skilled pilots.)

+REP. I am wanting to become an Earl eventually with the empire so I took my first mission. I was hoping to be given a combat mission, but didnt see any.
The missions follow a predictable progression. There's a thread somewhere here about it. Your 3rd mission, I think, is an assassination mission.
There are several good threads about levelling up the imperial ranks, try using google to search the forum, not the forum's crappy search bar.
One thing to know: when you complete a rank mission: turn it in immediately. If you get offered other rank missions and haven't turned in yet, they won't give you any rank.

I believe you may be correct, but I'm not too certain. I know I've seen biowaste for sale, but can't recall seeing toxic waste, but then, I've never looked for it. I keep that isht out of my ship.
