ASP Docking Computer - Where to buy?

I want to buy the docking computer on the ASP so I can do thinks like make a sandwhich while autodocking. Anyone have any idea where to buy this?

Dunno if this has changed but once upon a time the docking computer made mistakes and sometimes you went poof..rebuy ship... which is why I have never used one.

The DC is universal, not ship specific.

It is not hard to find, I think any hiGh tech system should have it.

I advise against using it, though, it is waste of a precious slot in a ship as small and easy to dock as the Asp.

You can dock way faster manually.

I've never used the docking computer, as Space Dandy says it has inbuilt unreliability, you may go for a sandwich only to come back facing and insurance bill!

Aye while you go make a sandwich, the docking computer can be making pancakes.... out of your ship! Like seasoning, use sparingly.

Try a high tech system. Best bet is there. But it's really for freighters like the T6, T7, T9 and so on. Ships needing large landing pads, generally. It's a waste on the Asp.

Dc is fine nowadays, scarey sometimes but pretty safe. I always have one, because I want to. After 2 weeks exploring the last thing you want to do is scrape your 20% Hull, low shield asp full of data because your Docking skills have gone rusty

Why not learn to fly and land the ship , it does take awhile and plenty of crashes. but the satisfaction of finally doing it is worth it

I wouldn't trust my ships docking procedure to be reliant to a computer than i would do for my car in real life. To each his own, but even with the real big ships its no problem to get through the slot without metal scratching. Usually just a matter of a few dockings.

Iv used a Docking Computer since i could afford one in Day 2. For me it lands far quicker than i ever can & it seems to reduce the 'permission denied' messages in crowded outposts.
NEVER EVER EVER leave it unattended when docking, it isn't 100% reliable. Pre 1.2 launch it failed me once & i had to abort (that's from 1000's of landings), but since 1.2 launch about 3 times now it's gone through a slot & decided to try to go back out through the station wall.
I always watch EVERY time just in case, but as i say, if you're not good at landing then use one, it's quicker.

Docking computer is fine now, it doesnt even scrape teh type 6 along the pad anymore
.
I use one on my type 7 that i run with no shields! When you have no shields the biggest regular risk can be landing as you can scrape and bump the hull and the docking computer sorts that out for me
.
So it uses a class 2 slot (4 T) but i free up a class 4 slot (16T) so no problem to me and very little in the way of hull damage
.
The loss of 1% of my trade capacity is something i can live with.
.
That said not sure i would put it in an Asp, you will run shields in an asp so no point, i use the docking computer if i bin shields

Dock, make sandwich, come back = no surprise re-buy screen.

Dont agree at all must have had about 200 landings in a T7 since 1.3 with ZERO issues, Ive has 2 deaths in that time (in other ships) all due to the stick seat interface so the Docking computer is no longer the weakest link, it may have been but is no longer

i think they are on sale pretty much anywhere...

i fit them to all my ships and they have never let me down in thousands of landings. have no problem with giving up a small slot for one. i dont leave it unattended for more than a few seconds and make sure it is pretty much lined up on the slot first

+1 for the Docking Computer , I use it in 2 of my ships , It's never failed on me since the last patch , but I seldom leave it unattended whilst landing, you can override it anyway by just manually accelerating.

It'll be a lot better in 1.3! Faster, smoother, gentler... and much better at outposts! :)
