I'd like to say I'm still using the classic view. Looks more part of the game.
A few points I'd like clearing up, or it could be I'm entering the data incorrectly.
When adding a new station and I put the economy as say, refinery. After I've saved it, in the trade section under the name of the station it will display something completely different. For instance, recently put a station in as agriculture and in the trade section it's got industrial. Put a station in as refinery and it shows as high tech.
Also why in the add new station economy list is there 2 of everything?
One more thing, I think 'Jurisdiction' should be renamed 'Allegiance' as it is in the game.

Thanks for a great add on for Elite. It may still have one or two niggles, but still the best one out there, in any galaxy.

Sounds like your database have a problem. Please delete all economies at the TCE.mdb (Economy table), that are doubled there or try a backup, that have not double entries of all economies.

That was with the Update. I could try to re-install.

I have re-installed
Kept only my Panel.mdb, TCE.mdb and EliteOCR

Installed TCE_V1.39beta1_non-installer.zip
Updated with TCE_V1.39beta6_update.zip
Ran TCE Setup.xlsm
and started TCE.

It started in classic and because I had reduced the Pics to 80% and set X to -91 in compact mode I didn't have access to the menu lol
Should have looked in the old ini what the setting was before I deleted but I did not,
so I fixed it by editing my Panel.mdb and restarting. (not a bug just a "funny" anecdote )

Anyway the point is that the problem is still happening at all stations.
At some the repetition stops by itself after 4 or 5 times.
at others it keeps going until TCE crashes.

Having problems to recreate your issue, its working fine here, so i guess, it could be your database. Perhaps you can upload it or send it directly to eventure@ki.tng.de so i can check it. Thanks.

Sounds like your database have a problem. Please delete all economies at the TCE.mdb (Economy table), that are doubled there or try a backup, that have not double entries of all economies.

It happend to me once and it went away by itself after a restart.
I think it was because I opened the database with access while TCE was running.

I thought I had found a bug, selecting the commodities icon while I was cruising (it returned a number of errors) but it seems to have recovered following a restart and move to a different system. I'll keep an eye on it and give more data if it happens again.

Now using 1.39b6 and everything going OK apart from one or two minor niggles.

When station data has been added via the Trade Station Database panel the data in the Star System summary is not always complete. I have an instance of a station which has been entered with a shipyard (which continues to show if I try to edit it) but in the summary panel the shipyard is missing. I also have a similar instance where the refueling facility is not showing in the summary but is showing as ticked in the edit panel. I have checked the database directly using Access and the field values in both cases are showing a value of '1' so there is not a problem with the database entries.

It is not consistent however as other stations are showing correctly in both panels. I can only assume that there is a bug in the code that is causing this to happen in specific instances.

The pictogram panel is great (I have reduced the size and moved the position to suit me) however from time to time it appears to lose it's settings from one use to the next. Sometimes it is starting with the top portion missing off the top of the screen as it's vertical starting position is too high. In addition I find that sometimes (not everytime) when trying to adjust the x & y coordinates both the x & y values have the same effect i.e. they both change the horizontal position of the pictogram bar rather than the intended action.

Found the problems and they will be fixed in next update.

at you current update record I'm expecting something very big with a delay this long. trade runs circling around 5 stations or more

Enhancement request

Being the avid note taker that I am I have found that for some systems I have a lot of notes.

Unfortunately I have noticed that on the system summary the notes section is not scrollable meaning that some of the notes are not displayed - would it be possible to add scrolling as an enhancement?

Also when adding/editing notes in the notes window itself if I am editing within text I find that after entering a character the cursor moves to the end meaning that to edit further you have to keep re-positioning the cursor. Is there a way of stopping this and having the same behaviour as a word processor?

Once it is setup on all the way to the Right side with the Tooltips on the left, at 80% size,
the new Compact UI is way better !!!
I haven't found one instance yet where it was in the way since I've put it there.
It is fast, accessible and seems somehow to fit better with ED's Ui on that side.

Took a bit of fiddling and getting used to, but I'm loving it !!!
(even if it is not as graphically balanced as the classic one )

New to TCE

I'm trying to use TCE for the first time but I'm running into an error. I installed v1.38 (since it's not in beta) and when I tried to "Save and Exit" after linking the paths I got a "Run-time error '70': Permission denied" and this:

I tried removing the TCE and TCE Setup files and replacing them with the v1.39beta6 versions (I'm not even sure if that was the right way to do it) and got the same error. I followed Yokai's guide up until the beta attempt, since I didn't see any instructions on updating.

Please deactivate the UAC at your windows. Its blocking TCE to make his ini file.

Hi Eventure, been banging my head for last 3 hours trying to get the FTP access working, me and some friends have setup an FTP site but i can't type in the boxes to fill out the address/username/password plus the 2 buttons for upload/download are greyed out, whether i activate FTP Access or uncheck it.

I got office 2013 64bit, windows 7 64bit but can't figure out why it won't let me type in those boxes. I have the default installation for office 2013 so is there something else that i need to enable/download ?
Btw brand new to TCE and very impressed, bloody good job. Now if i could just get this FTP thingy working.

Thanks for posting, indeed, there is a bug. I release tomorrow a new version, that will fix that issue. If you cant wait, open the TCE.ini file and edit it manually.

After a few startup bugs, just got the TCE working and added my first system and commodities data! I wish I didn't have to go to work... I sing your praises, Eventure!

Ok thanks, I've only got 10 or so entries in it as I restarted from beta 4. Is there a recommended tool that I can use to open / edit it, ideally manually rather than using SQL queries?

Edit:

1. I should have guessed the answer to my question about a recommended tool - MS Access

2. I've swapped in the TCE.mdb_clear database and it works fine so yep, it's the database.

3. I have removed the last station from the station table and TCE loads without any issues, so something went wrong with my last data update. I have reverted to a backup from last night.

Is there a way to check and confirm the integrity of the database before it is opened for use? It'll give us early notice something is wrong with the database so we can revert before we add any new data.

Also, is there a way to configure when and how often backups are taken? - I wasn't even aware they were being taken up to now but they have proved useful, thanks!

Actually, there is no database checking at startup. I want to make a separate tool for this. But i didnt find time to finishing it, but when its ready, i could implant an integrity check into the start routine (as an option).
The backup is daily made atm, but this could also be on every start of TCE. Unfortunately, a day has only 24 hrs, so important things comes first.
