RES sites; need help!

So was checking out a RES site last night, and I was getting a constant stream of large ships, getting bout 3 mil an hour. Then I log on today, and in the same extraction site I am getting only cobras and vipers if im lucky. how come this is happening? where have all the big ships gone? please help.

Hello there

You had a random lucky streak!

Sometimes I only get Eagles and Sidewinders and other times Anacondas and Pythons.

Just keep at it.

Never made 3 mill an hour though.

3 Mill an hour is high, but with a good RES its possible. Its an instance thing as far as I understand, you got a good instance. Who knows when the next one will come!

3 mil an hour is quite extreme.
Do not expect that all the time.
I bounty hunt all the time at RES and never got that kind of money.

Sometimes when you jump out of the RES and then jump back in you get some bigger bogeys.

I read somewhere (on the web) that leaving and re entering the RESs will change the spawn rate of pirates, it said to keep re entering the RES until a stream of big ships happens, and then site there for as long as you can, is this true? because I tried it a few times and still nothing :/

Move to a different RES.

If I don't see any good targets within 5 minutes, I jump to the next one. Last night it was an endless stream of Dropships and Clippers at one spot. Same RES a couple of days ago there was nothing larger than a viper.

A couple of things I noticed. If there is a lot of security flying around when I get there, it's probably just going to be endless dogfights (eagles, vipers, ,maybe the odd anaconda). I'm not sure if this is related to the instancing, but it seems if the smallest combat ships are on site to start with, it can take a long time for anything larger to show up.

Just fly like you're playing blackjack. Sometimes the table just isn't playing well so you have to move to another one.

Reset the instance you get two types

Small ships - (what you had) adders/eagles/sidewinders/cobras/vipers
Big ships - dropships/clippers/anacondas/pythons

They don't mix, your in one or the other. Save & Exit until you see a wanted big ship then you know your good.

It has nothing to do with anything else, security, location, system government etc all irrelevant its just a random 1 or 0 when you load the instance.

it fluctuates i suppose, yesterday i had a all time high for me at a RES: 2 million in bounties after no more than 25 minutes(!), and almost twice that after 50 minutes... (and all i felt during this time was long long wait before next 200k+ or so conda spawned) but after that i did not get even 500k for the next hour

1-2 million per hour seem to be the norm even with smaller pirates spawning, althou it can be less sometimes, but it aint often

ofc i have lots of fun (for the moment) with such profit per hour, but i am perhaps the only one not too happy with this new increased bounties (@ RES!) it was better before when it was actually less profits.. even before they increased profits, RES was one of the fastest ways of making credits. but now evrything else in the game is most times very very much less profitable. to overbalanced towards evrything else ingame...

i tend to stay away from RES more now because it removes the fun of playing (long term), just like using cheats in other games tends to do...

I guess the bigger ship type RES is a lower spawn rate then the smaller one as most seem to have to search for a big one. I never have problems finding one with small ships!

There's three types of instances for RESes.

Small, which nets usually no bigger than a cobra
Mixed, which IMO is the most common, these consist of both small and large spawns.
Large, where you get the most money from hunting without a doubt. Dropships, Anacondas, Clippers, Pythons.

For added money, use a KWS if you haven't already.

You can manipulate spawns by either jumping out of the RES into supercruise or save and exit to menu and re-load the save.

Thank you :) this is very handy, do you know the chances of spawning a Large RES ?? and if there is system stats that are more likely to spawn, eg low security?

I don't exactly know if there's a different percentage chance, but using one of Kremainn's RESes gave a large or mixed spawn rather consistently.

If security has a change on spawns, I don't know. If it's any consolation to you, I've made over 8 mill alone in just bounties, 6 or 7 of it just from Kremainn spawns.

This becomes easier to farm in private or solo, but some people will vote against that because reasons. Open can end up being quite the storm when there's multiple people fighting over a single anaconda if they're not in a wing.

I think it's random. I change instance by moving to another Res or system, find other ways of re-setting feel a little bit "wrong" for me personally.

Yes, that is how it works. If your instance is Krap, leave and jump in again until the result suits you.

I assume you can over farm a res. After a while I used to get a wing of sideys attack. Then it went to vipers and cobras. Today I had 2 expert annaconda and a cobra wing jump in and start attacking before I could kws them.

Intense to say the least. Only got the cobra and one annaconda. Couldn't split them away from each other. Exited with no shield and 60% hull. Cockpit started cracking. After boosting into asteroid yesterday taking no chances.

Is this random when you upset local pirates or can I expect increased hostility with big ships.

Didn't know you could reset by save and exit, handy tip. Quicker then jumping out and in I bet.

sure it does.. i was in a one with lots of big ships evrywhere in a private group, but as other players was thre too i got lagging NPC's.. so changed in mere seconds to solo play... after that nothing but sidewinders - adders :D

I wonder if being in a wing with one of them would have let you come back into the same one. Would be very useful for firstly finding them and then being able to bail for repairs without losing the good instance.

Edit: Obviously you were going to solo so not helpful in your scenario, but useful elsewhere if possible
