So, want to enhance the ED experience even more....

I have ordered a lot of bits n bobs to add "Sim Vibe" to my racing ring for IRacing (I use the Rift, of course) - more 'feeling' rather than visual...

So this got me thinking - I wonder if the SimVibe software would / could / can support Elite Dangerous....

Anyone a member of the "Sim Experience" club that can post in their forums ask the question or have any knowledge? (I haven't pushed the button yet to buy the software for SimVibe, so cannot see / post on the forums)

Thoughts?

Flight suit! There are a variety of Chinese-made pressure suits on ebay in the $1000 range. :)

Mmmmmmm - I was thinking more about the rig I sit in when I play ED (which incidentally is the same rig I use when driving, only the steering wheel is tucked away and my HOTAS is within easy reach of my two hands).

Where the bass transducers I will be installing, vibrating when, say, 1) the landing gear is raised 2) when I fire my multicannons, 3) when I land, 4) when I hit hyper space....etc etc....

Would really take it to another another level, I am sure...

I hear ya! Sadly SimVibe doesn't work for Elite. You can however use two sound cards, manage the channels with Voicemeeter and use an equalizer to only send out the right frequenties to the transducers.

The guys at XSimulator are adding transducer support to SimTools in the near future. It's actively being developed.

SimTools: http://www.xsimulator.net/
Voicemeeter: http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Voicemeeter/
Equalizer APO: http://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/

Oh, and... I ordered four bass shakers yesterday. Planning on building my vibra-sim the coming weekend.

Cool! I got 3 Aura bass shakers (50w) on the way and 2 other bass shakers as well as all the bits (amp, psu, cables etc etc) to hook it all up to.....

Looking forward to the 'enhancement'......

+! nice thread, something i may look into. Imersion is ace with DK2 but to have vibrations rumbles etc will really top it off. What a cool idea guys.

great idea i also have simvibe for iracing and have just started to get into elite, will keep checking back and will scan the internet, will i get any credits so i can buy a new ship for exploration

I'm using a Volair Sim chair system with a ButtKicker attached underneath the chair. Using DK2 and this setup is about as close as I'm going to get to the real thing. I freaking love this setup

Not sure if this is the kind of thing you mean but looks like the boys over at elite cabs have almost got their act together...

They just released a vid of a guy flying in one and are offering demos now. Bit pricey but looks fun.

I have a 500 watt Elemental designs 12" ported HT sub sitting behind me when I play. Shakes the whole room... It adds SO much to the experience. When my obutto cockpit comes in a few weeks, Im going to build a custom low profile enclosure under the seat, and mount a low profile 12" there, same 500watt amp, for the low end in my ship.

No - not interested in the cab thing (waste of money in the Rift as all your see is the space ship)

Its more of an enhancement in 'feeling....'

This video is of a guy setting up IRacing and simvibe and trying it for the first time, and it should give you an idea of what I mean...

...imagine flying an Asp or T9 instead of driving.....

oh - and I sent an email to the support staff at Sim Experience - it said....

"Will you be supporting Elite Dangerous with Sim Vibe?

The potential is huge, and consider - a lot of the DK2 users of IRacing play Elite Dangerous as their 'other' VR experience - as it is awesome!

Just a thought....
Phil."

Their response...

"Hi Phil,

Thanks for the feedback. We do not have it in the plans yet, but if we keep hearing about it that could change

Sincerely,

just tried voicemeeter, got it working and it adds an new dimension to the game great. internal mobo soundcard and using a usb external asus xonar u7 , adds a voicemeeter input in the sound settings under playback set that to default device,
then in voicemeeter banana just pick A1, A2 to your hardware out devices, job done works great.

I have a coupe if bass shakers rigged under my chair running from a dedicated amp. I've got 5.1 analog outputs from a zero sound card going to descrete inputs on a pioneer av amp then I'm taking the left and right front channel pre out to the bass shaker amp.

I know it's possible to use software to run the sound outputs that are built in to the mobo at the same time but is there any real advantage to doing that?

Home build FTW!

I run homemade transducers in my chair - rat/steampunk build with a dedicated 7.1 surround amp powering them. Even with the rift on, the feel is great. It adds a very definite layer of immersion!

The build is here

also worth checking out some of the other builds

TIOOs is worth a look

Enrides post

I decided to build as I could not find what I wanted on the high street.

That and voice attack is fairly 'realistic'

I have bass shakers on my chair and my pedals (usually I'm using simvibe with iRacing ). When I play ED I connect the shakers to the normal sound card and it's amazing, with a good audio system and the shakers in place it's amazing. When the ship go through the mail slot the space around me it's like warping and shaking.

Totally works with ed

Must use simvibe as it programs the waves to hit the transducer

Or you can make profiles etc from a programming aspect but weve asked the devs about integration im sure willcome one day
