Newcomer / Intro Quick Question about Exploration

So, I'm far away from civilization, and I've explored close to a thousand systems, and did at least one detailed scan in each one.

I was wondering, is there a stat tracker or something related to exploring? Like how many of each planet type/how much money you've made (assuming you make it back)?

Right hand UI panel>stats.

At the bottom it shows no of systems visited, no and type of scans done and money made from Exploration*.

It doesn't break it down any further than that though.

The only way of tracking exactly what you scanned, where, is using a notepad. You could also take a screenshot of the system map if you want a visual record (though of course they won't show any "discovered by"s until you dump your data on Universal Cartographics.

*scan type and money don't update until you've sold the data

Basically you need to record this information yourself, either through a 3rd party program or, the way I do it, by hand.

Personally I write down the names of systems with high value targets, it would be very tedious (I think) to have to record each one manually. But it would be great if FDev gave us access to that information. It must be available to them.

I F10 every ELW, other item of interest, and the Galaxy Map zoomed out at the end of each Planned Route

Not officially in the game, but I've knocked up a Sheet that I use to track my discoveries as I go.
I've made a blank version available for people to copy and modify to their personal requirements...

Use something like EDDiscovery2 mentioned above to log the system names and times so you can copy them in later. I enter the jump distance from the galaxy map as the jump counts down.
Once you've combined the timestamp, system name, distance and any other notes, it starts to resemble a useful travel log. It's also why I'm a lot slower moving than other explorers, I'm methodical in recording my data BEFORE I jump.

Deliberately avoiding system names, I've got a long way home!
