No honor in CODE?

......there being a CODE of conduct for CODE members and throwing people out for breaking it...

...reminds me of this:

Guys....you are talking about pirates...why would you trust any of them? :D

LOL this made me chuckle, but exactly...I mean people assuming the role of pirates and then not being entirely trustworthy and sometimes being a bit mean? Who would dream of such a thing. ^^

All power to them the game needs more of this kind of thing not less. Some people are posting about grouping up to take on the pirates......this is exactly the sort of thing that will make this game work long term not something to be knocked.

This guy gets it.

Hello Mrspoonsi,

Well I think some people may have got the wrong end of the stick. I am not sure you were looking for empathy or sympathy, more giving a general warning to others that might come to an arrangement with CODE to be be a little careful.

CODE are represented in laveradio Guild conclave episode 1, the cmdr name and I think forum name of the gentleman on the podcast is mentioned. He did elude to there being a CODE of conduct for CODE members and throwing people out for breaking it. He seems generally on the level and fair. I did not catch his name though.

Simon

Exactly this, CODE recently indicated they are becoming more than pirates, taking Leesti, etc, the truth on the ground is a little different.

They can do what ever they want, just like you.

There seems to be this hidden "code of conduct" that some players assume that everyone should adhere to. The only code in the game is the game rules and not some made up sense of honor.

If they want to gank you, they can, the game allows it.

I see a lot of player jumping on the forums to complain they got killed, it's a joke.

There is no problem with the OP making others aware of this though. Now I know to open fire on sight of them, so really it is more of a warning than a whine.

How come I am not allowed ot combat log though lol? You forgot the rule about logging, so there are at least 2 rules?

Then again, Russia have repeatedly stated they don't have troops in the Ukraine.

Please do the gentlemanly thing and take me at my word. I created The Code in December as an Elite only group. You have no idea how much I detest CODE from EVE right now and to answer the usual questions;

1: it's a coincidence
2: That's a coincidence too
3: I didn't feel like checking every multiiplayer game ever made and checking what group had what reputation before choosing the name. Shocking oversight, I know.
4: We won't change it because A) I don't want to and B) We'd just be known as those guys who used to be CODE.
5: Mottled, with a hint of purple
6: On Thursdays, unless the Hovercraft is available in which case; Tuesdays and Thursdays and every other Monday.
7: The Welsh.

+infinity. Have some more rep.

Is anyone surprised?

CODE, like most pirates, are the lowest form of scum. This sort of behavior is to be expected of them.

Is anyone foolish enough to actually pay them for their empty promise of "protection"? Well, probably a few people are. They will learn better eventually.

Per my last, actions speak louder than words - if you want to maintain you have no association with CODE from Eve, why use the same name? Does that not mean that you are then tarred with the same brush as that group from Eve? Do you not then automatically suffer a reputation hit as a result, before you even start? Unless that's exactly what you wanted of course.

What's that old line about the scorpion and the turtle?

You knew they were evil and you still went out and played with evil.

Last night we had a wing going in Leesti, 3 clippers and a vulture, we had numerical superiority and came to an agreement with Code in the system that we would have mutual non-attack, we even had duels, first to drop shields.

A wing of 3 came into the system (when no code were around) they were killing NIC to overturn the independents, we killed one and the others ran from the system.

As the evening progressed, my wing had to leave, so I was on my own in the system (not wanted), now there are 6 to 8 code and for no reason one code member pulls me over and starts attacking (another clipper), his shields were quickly dispatched and he was only saved by other code members arriving on the scene to help him out, I left and suddenly I am public enemy #1 with code...for defending myself from unprovoked attack (I was ind, he shot first). The same code members from earlier in evening were attacking me, I question their actions later at station, they said just following orders. I not worry too much about loosing the ship (6 vs 1...) but it does raise the question:

1) Do code not honor their word? and attack anything only when they have superior numbers (our wing could have had control of leesti for 2 hours when only 3 code were around, in their lessor ships).

2) Or are there some rotten eggs in CODE? such as this other clipper (I am not 100% certain but the clipper pilot seemed to suggest to his buddies I had pulled him over and attacked first, only 80% on this one).

Who is the mouthpiece for CODE?

1. Members of code have publicly admitted they are cowards and based on what you related the answer is YES on both points.

2. In response to this point and your final question I am wondering why no "official" statement has been given by the group. Other than the tired old "We are not from Eve!!" posting.

And of course their will be those who will state "It's a dangerous, pvp, hostile, uncertain, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah galaxy. And for the sake of getting past that often used deflection by others I will pose a question:

Rules or not, does your word mean nothing?

If points 1 & 2 are in response the the OP, they are not direct answers.

And in what manner should your word be taken as a matter of the "gentlemanly thing to do" when the group you are part of does not reflect the value of said "word"?
