Increase Scanning Range

Hello

I really kinda enjoy exploration so far, have allready an ASP with an Detailed Surface Scanner and the Advanced Scanner...

But..

Its almost like bad news, if you find systems with more than 40 unknown objects, I stopped bothering scanning everything, because it takes so much time
and its most of the time not worth at all... Only things I bother to scan are rare planets and yet unexplored planets...

I think that that scanning range should be equal at 1000 Ls, no matter how large or small a planet is, sometimes you need to be below 10 Ls to be able to scan a planet
and if you have a system with a lot of planets, it can take easy 30 to 45 minutes and sometimes even more to scann everything and its just not worth the credits you gain from it
and on the other hand it feels more like "work" than enjoyable gaming... life should ne easier in game :)

And is it a bug, that sometimes you get zero credits for being the first one to explore some planets? Congratulations ---> Reward 0 Credits

Ya, thanks!

It would be nice, if the scanning range would be increased, so you can get faster to the next system, without losing half of your lifeforce, patience and motivation...

OR

Increase the scaning time of a planet by the ammount of moons surrounding it, so you dont need to scan each little *****

Or accept that, by its nature, exploring takes time.

Disagree.

Then move on to the next system then. It's meant to take a bit of work rather than just be a jump, scan, profit, jump, scan, profit method.

So basically, a buff request to make things easier, faster etc.

Yes, because Exploring is in no relation to Bounty Hunting or Trading, there where you actually really only click and profit, without much effort...

I make in 2 Days of Trading or Bounty Hunting more than double as much Credits, than I do in a Week of Exploring...

Of course, it could be much worse, like havin in every system pirates or getting zero credits for planets that you dont bother to scan,
but for me exploring is more exhausting, than trading or bounty hunting...

And I am sure some players out there really enjoy flying up close 10 Ls to 60 planets in a row to be able to scan them, I did too,
but after couple of hundert scans, I dont really bother anymore...

But in gerneral I think, that this game has a lot of potential, but it still feels kinda like early Alpha, because so much is still missing somehow...
There is still a lot to do and to improve...

My only concern is scanning time. I think it's a bit slow but i like the way things are. Can't talk about profit as i'm on my first journey. I disagree that Exploring is tedious. I can stay awake much more time while exploring than when i'm doing trades, back and forth with no excitement.

no offence, but please get out there and do your first 1000 scans and than come back here with an opinion...

I don't really feel someone needs to do a thousand scans before finding your suggestion invalid. While I'm sure you have spent countless more hours exploring than I or the next guy, I don't feel that makes our opinion any less constructive.

In the end, I think that exploration isn't really about the credit profits. Personally I'd like to see more meaning (in a way not directly related to credits) being given to exploration (specifically, planet scanning) before I see scanning become easier. I think that there should be a healthy amount of searching, traveling, and discovery in exlporation.

I would like scanning distances to be much shorter (I.e. close enough that the object is actually rendered rather than being a shiny blob) but the actual scanning time to be reduced. The overall time wouldn't change much, but I would get a better sense that I'm actually exploring.

I'm 8,500 ly out from Sol and can confirm exploration can be a tad tedious at times! So many times I've said to myself I'm NOT scanning the next system only to see some nicely coloured planetoid and set course!

MephisRA...Don't bother with the asteroid belts (that's the zero credits your getting), also check the system map first and then ignore white planetoids as their probably just Icy/Rocky/both....Personally I also ignore moons!

sort of agree with this, but the problem is decel and accel times would be humungous and time consuming. But scan speed should be increased, I was just 2 LS from a small planetoid and it took 22 seconds to scan!! The smaller the body the quicker the scan, the more expensive bodies should take a bit longer but the cheapo stuff should be 3-5 seconds tops.
