Well then, with both the Diamondback and Imperial Courier confirmed for 1.3, what do you think the chances are of the Corvette dropping in to complete the line up?

We might see the Vette in 1.3, but it seems comparatively under-developed. Its concept has been around for a while. I wouldn't hold my breath, but in any case I'll be glad to have the opportunity to destroy a new type of Federation deathtrap.

I hope so - there are already too many imperial players (myself included) without totally unbalancing things by adding the courier but no corvette. I hope she is an imba combat ship and draws lots of commanders over to the Feds.

Considering that other pure combat ships are in fact cheaper to outfit than their multirole counterpart, I expect the opposite

My thoughts exactly - the Federals have the Vulture and the Dropship, the Imperials have the Courier and the Clipper.

Lol, no, I know; I was trying to say that I think that the Vulture was originally planned as the Federal counterpart of the Imperial Courier. I think that because of the FVU mark on the hull. But that might be complete nonsense.
Anyway, if each Fed ship has an Imp. counterpart it seems likely that the Corvette and the Cutter will be introduced at the same time, i.e. not in 1.3.
