Where do system ships land or refuel?

You don't use much fuel in normal space so they won't need to refuel nor rearm if they use lasers.

They could be pulling 8 hour shifts. Sit an watch for 10 hours and see if they take a break. ;)

I do miss the good old days of Elite, where the Vipers would come storming out of the station slot, but not the good old days of Frontier and FFE, where 9 times out of 10 the Viper Mk IIs would come out of a planetary starport and slam straight into the ground. :D

Im pretty sure they just magically spawn and despawn, rather than actually having "lives" and going to stations and stuff.
I mean, if they actually DO these things, mine and trade and legitimately preform said tasks, im impressed.
But the pessimist in me and from what ive seen ingame, it seems like maybe they are just spawned in as needed.

I miss them coming out too. Wouldnt it be nice if they added that in. A touch cinematic realism.

and had forgotten about the nutter vipers smashingtheir faces in to the floor. Thank you for making me laugh :)

Persistent NPCs aren't a thing yet. They just spawn pseudo-randomly whenever players are around.

Easy, they dock and undock from patrolling Anacondas. They're quite smug about it, sit round and have a laugh that out of all the thousands of CMDRs in the Elite Federation of Pilots there's not one has worked out where the docking bay "on/off" switch is.
