Lost from the Milky way. (can anyone find the missing stars?)

I wonder if anyone could help me locate some missing stars.
For the past few days I've been looking into some existing places to explore. Like IGR J11014-6103 which we know in the milky way galaxy, but I have a problem the star it is missing, it's not in the elite dangerous milky way galaxy.. Can you find this missing star? If you see it please tell it to go back to where it was last located, cause its not there. That's not the best part, the most interesting part is, a whole nebula is missing too..

To top it all off this is not the only missing object's from the elite milky way galaxy.

There are different data bases for this stuff, some of it has different info and some have the same stuff with different names. ED plugs into one of those databases. I think :D

I know, and this star would be located in the same place, its just not near that location at all.
Can you find the lighthouse nebula?

As I always say at this point: We do not know accurately what shape the Milky Way is (like how many spiral arms it has) and we do not know why galaxies are the shape they are (you'll have heard of that "dark matter" thing - it's a very clever guess to explain why galaxies don't look like they should.) We do not know how many stars are in it and we do not know what their distribution is (like how many brown dwarfs there are, say). We do not accurately know the distances and most other parameters of the stars that we see (take any lists of "the biggest stars" etc. with a pinch of salt). In short, there does not exist a map of the Milky Way to which Elite's map can fairly be compared.

That said, FD have made a good effort to include local and bright stars.

Sounds like allot of "we", maybe its a "we" but an "I" or "them"?
You might want to check some books, or some documentaries, maybe even some astronomy clubs might bring you up to speed.

I found it but its told me not to tell anyone where it is, if I did it said it would have to kill me :)

lols. Give you a free canister of your choosing if you tell me ;-)

Alnilam is missing too. It's the middle star in Orion's belt. Orion just doesn't look right without it.

spooky I found some others missing from constellations too, but I didn't think to make a list.
Maybe we should start that?

LOL.

I'm an astrophysicist.

Let me give you a thought experiment.

Imagine you have a dozen fishtanks. Some of them are filled with Pepsi, some of them with Coke, some of them with Cola syrup and some of them are filled with water.

Imagine you have some torches of slightly different sizes and different power.

I turn out the lights, line up some of those fishtanks (you don't know how many, or which ones), pick a torch at random and shine it through the fishtanks at you.

How can you tell which torch is it, and how far away is it from you?

There are ways - if the torch has some peculiarity which makes it stand out, or perhaps if it's flashing on and off in a certain pattern, or if it's close enough that you can see it move if you move your head from side to side - but it's not easy and it's not precise.

So we couldn't make an accurate map saying "the torch is ten metres away in that direction"; we can say something like "it's probably about ten metres away, but it could be nine metres or eleven metres, depending on what's in the fishtanks and exactly what sort of torch it is."

Yesterday I decide I would visit Al Rischa as I am a Pisces but could not find it. I also tried variations like Alpha Piscium, a Piscium, a Psc but it is not there.

Also, if you do find that something is missing, always report it. FDEV want feedback on this and also want to add things that may be missing.

are you suggesting we create a thread on FD forum. I guess your suggesting this so we don't raise tickets and add to there backlog of support tickets.
on a side note, some stars are not the correct types or classifications. Could this be I need to be in system to get correct information displayed?

I hope they do add them. as I'm sure they intended on having them here.

isn't their a bridge somewhere for trolls to stand under? already this forum is suffering the effect of too many trolls. Don't the trolls want improvements to a great game..

Search for Alrisha

Guys...it really isn't that hard..

thanks for quality response.

Good find ;-)

Search for Epsilon Orionis. It really is not that difficult guys..

Aha I see it now. Didn't realise it was much further away than Alnitak and Mintaka. I guess the reason it can't be seen as easily as the other 2 from Sol and neighbourhood is because it's obscured behind Barnard's Loop which is way too bright for naked eye in ED's sky. Orion isn't as recognizable because of that.
I know it's nitpicking. I have to say though from this amateur astronomer's perspective I'm still bowled over by ED's representation of the galaxy - it's one of the reasons I bought this game and I've finally got around to exploring it.

Well said bro, @Astronut57.

That's the stage I'm at. Done my ranks for combat and trading. made over 1.6 bill Crs, killed over 12k. I'm now finally the able to disappear into the galaxy, and to my dismay I can not find some of the most historical stars known to us. which is why I started this thread. I'm pleased that the ED community responded nicely like this. (saddened that we attracted troll's) GL on exploring PM me if u want to team up.
On a side note, I found a star that has the same name as a different star, and also another missing star.

Starbuck_, you're an anus maximus. How's that for a quality response?

Not sure how much of the real Galaxy there really is. I Tried a list of pulsars, only 1 existed in game, and that wasn't a pulsar. Maybe using another catalogue might help, but I really don't know enough
