Put the vulture in the garage, it were good times we had..

But i finally managed to get my rep up, cash in for a STOCK ... ( got more for upgrades, wanted to test stock first)

wait for it...

Still turning, banking drifting....

Dropship.

Now you can stop reading this post as imperial :).
For damn the turn rate is slow..its like traversing a black hole and the time dilation that comes with it. Horrible! I hope class A trusters might solve this a bit.

Stock dropship though, with A5 hyperdrive for a decent range. Suits me. So armed with 5 beam lasers and out for a test run.
Lifting off! Do these thrusters work actually? Why aint my flying container taking off..ow wait for it....There i went, and a little bit to the left, take it easy, ooopps to far right turn right..it aint truning right...ow wait for it..yes it is..no it isent, still drifting to the left..what the hell did i just turn off flight assist. Where the hell is this thing going.

Hahaha this dropship is already so much fun, no pun intended really. If there is something defying the laws of physics and then turning it upside down, its the dropship. the only vessel with a singularity drive mass locking itself from doing anything. Lets go RES hunting.

Now i have been here a while with my vulture and the terrorist and mob faction are so hostile, they sometimes spawn a wing attacking me on sight. So i jump into the RES. One wing..no crap two wings present. 6 ships, viper cobra and some small suicidal space commanders. Normally i beat it and run. This time is was like. NO: im in a dropship. UNBEATABLE. So i took the fight to them and noticed with its turn ratio and 5 gimballed beams i would have very little opportunity to fire on them. Time for a tactic change.

When turning to get a viper in my sight i noticed the others where shooting and flying past me like bugs i thought...start...aim.. and squish them bugs! So instead of chasing them i looked on the radar, saw them seering by, switch target and hit them as i could. (then i realised like others written before...turrets might be handy...)

I killed the two wings, shields gone 42% hull (it took them 2 seconds to get the hull down with 6 of them but armor took them a long time). I was sweating and thrilled. Never had such fun combat. Did not care they almost blew me up. Anyway, shields back online..into the fray. Ohh an annaconda lets try trailing behind its engines. FULL SPEED, AFTERBURNER!!! and thus i flew way to fast, ..it changed to ramming speed, i tried to veer of, but the momentum carried me..the annaconda accelerated and gotten away..but below it was a green fed annaconda....oh boy this gonna hurt..oh crap and only 42% hull..mommy.....BUMP CRASH...warning..canopy breach..41% hull...hmm..Coooool :) No worries, back to chasing the other annaconda again. As a sitting brick there and another wing jumping in i gotten heavy fire, killed then annaconda with 20% hull left then took on the wing. With 18% hull left i survived and limped back to the spacestation.

After this the maiden voyage of my dropship could not have been more perfekt, stock flying container and proving its survivability without a doubt. I really hope A grade components will help this ship be a bit less of a handfull. Maybe i have to employ turrets, but am going to try with 4 C2 pulse lasers and a class 3 beam. Gimballed.

To all of you who read this far, thank you. To all imperials i can only say, beauty and a nice paint job wont save you in the cold space. The vulture was a good hunter, money grinder. This was pure fun and crazyness. I know i have to upgrade power plants and distributor, but for now, in stock mode i am a happy camper.

The dropship needs some lovin. It got mine :).

Someone actually bought that thing.

I can't believe you parked a perfectly nice Vulture for that soap crate. Especially if you wanted to go hunting. The only thing the dropship is good at is turning around as a hologram in the shipyard menu.

Rep for mah man in a Dropship although must be honest, that wall of text, phew.

Anywho, there were ever only 3 ships that found a way deep into my heart: Eagle, Asp, and the Dropship. I had to make the TOUGHEST decision of my gaming life yesterday and I'm no longer a Dropship owner. But we had a blast. A proper, wholehearted, sideways :D blast!

An orca...looks to much imperial, i leave that to them goonies over there :)

And thanx for calling it a soap crate :D

Gotten from Cobra, to ASP, to Vulture and now the Soap Crate. Keep you posted how it fairs with A grade parts :)

They do.. :( but so do most ships. I play PVE only so i do not need to worry about human to human that much. Sure i would accept a challenge but otherwise i leave other players alone combat wise.

If it's any consolation, OP, the Imperial Clipper is a drifty hog too. I'm used to trading in a T-7 and doing combat in a Vulture- opposite ends of the handling spectrum maybe. However, doing some trading in the Clipper, I found myself entering the letterbox sideways at speed. It was sliding all over the place when trying to flick it into the station- I'm used to using a lot of rudder to straighten up at the last moment, to get in and out quickly, but it seems like it likes inertia. Even pitching down hard (at relatively low speed) to get down to the pad leads to the thing still travelling forwards rather than down- it seems to require some vertical thruster blips to arrest the unwanted motion. The thing's like a 1950s American ego car, in many ways.

Yes, it's fast, and carries a decent amount, but it's blingy and lacking in subtlety. I am sure its ability to MAEK MONEY FAST!!!one will grow on me, though. I suppose every ship has its quirks. Me, I am a secret Lakon freighter addict, I fear.

I just sold a T6 and a Vulture to get a Clipper on discount after the community event in NU. Selling the Vulture was a real wrench and I will buy another soon but like the drop ship the Clipper also has inertia...yet to try it in real combat (only picked on a few easy victims at a Nav beacon as a test) but without gimbals it is certainly going to be crap with that weapon spacing so I too am considering turrets.

Have fun, but don't forget to re-buy that Vulture when you have the cash...

No, but >400m/s speed will. :p

Good one :D

No, seriously, the Dropship, especially sporting some good kit, is an absolute joy. Among the rocks, it's like an elephant playing in a kiddie inflatable pool. I still feel kind of guilty to have sold it. But then I look at the thing of pure perfection not unlike one in your signature. And all I can say is, it had to be done.

T6 & T7 ugly as hell but fun to use. Drop ship does not seem to have a purpose yet.

6 months ago first player I drove off with ship tried attacking with drop ship. Good times.

I too fly a dropship, it's like flying a solid block of heavy iron BUT a LOT of fun doing it. I'd be careful attacking another player piloted dropship especially if your used to killing only the NPC ones, it's a totally different ballgame believe it or not. Great video here of a good pilot who knows how to fly a dropship against other experienced players in many different ships. It's a true force to be reckoned with. ;-)
