Nominees

Are we allowed to discuss other future nominees for this excellent award?

As this thread hasn't been closed I will conclude that we are.

In newsletter #71 FD introduces the Elite: Dangerous Community Award medal: "...exclusively to players who make an outstanding contribution to the community...." Link: http://us2.campaign-archive2.com/?u=dcbf6b86b4b0c7d1c21b73b1e&id=0c4739fd13

As many commanders have made contributions far greater than winning a film contest, I logically conclude that this Elite: Dangerous Community Award medal is indeed intended for players who make an outstanding contribution to the Elite: Dangerous community.

A few names appear quite clearly in my mind.

----------

As future nominees for the Elite: Dangerous Community Award medal I would like to nominate the following:

Mobius for his exceptional contributions to the Elite: Dangerous community. Off the top of my head it's wallpapers, signatures, PvE group, PvE forum, and probably much more that I don't know about.

And

Isinona for his storytelling and flight assist off skills shared in his Youtube videos. Promoting Elite: Dangerous in the best possible way.

-------------

I know many other commanders are doing exceptional work for the Elite: Dangerous community, so please feel free to nominate or support commanders in this thread.

It would be interesting to see who indeed are the champions for the Elite: Dangerous community. :)

Fly safe commanders. :)

I'd like to cast another vote for both Mobius and Isinona (the latter in particular has been an inspiration for me personally) as well as adding new votes for:

Erimus for his "Distant Suns" youtube videos, for the "65,000 LYs from home" thread (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=103513) and for generally being a fantastic ambassador for exploration in Elite: Dangerous.

ElectricZ for organising the Buckyball races (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=134186) with copious quantities of flair and pizzazz.

Forger for the "Elite: Dangerous Pilot's Guide/Manual/Tutorial/Help" which was an invaluable source of information in the early days when official documentation was sparse at best and non-existent at worst.

For completeness and to avoid any misunderstanding, here is the COMPLETE quote from the newsletter (aqain).

Ctrl+Alt+Space is our first ever film competition. We're inviting you to make a video using a piece of original music from Elite: Dangerous composer Erasmus Talbot and an opening title card selected specially for the competition. We want you to be as creative and crazy as you like, and submit your entry by May 8.

Six videos will be selected by Frontier's art and animation teams and we'll put the shortlist to the community to pick an overall winner to be announced soon after the poll closing date on May 15.

The overall winner will take home an Elite: Dangerous video starter kit, with Mad Catz headset, high-end Logitech mouse and keyboard and a video capture card to take your YouTube game to the next level.

The winner will also receive the first ever Elite: Dangerous Community Award – a unique Elite: Dangerous medal awarded exclusively to players who make an outstanding contribution to the community.

This award is - currently - only open for this video competition and is not a popularity voting excercise for nominees.

I wish you wouldn't be so condescending. Not very appropriate for a moderator.

I'm being accurate and helpful, as you can see by the response to me actually providing ALL of the information.

However, in essence, this is exactly what I fear it will turn out to be. ;) :)

Probably :)

But still, to become eligible for the award, someone will have to create and submit a video for the competition. Should be great viewing when the top 6 are selected!

And speaking of unfulfilled, I'll just close this just now before it gets any more random.

Once again - in a nutshell - the award is ONLY for the video contest for now. Please do not create another dupe of this topic.
