E: D 1.3 had better bring it's big boy pants !

What with the Witcher 3, GTA V and Batman: Gotham Knight all out or on the way E: D is gonna have to draw some attention to itself as all of the above are long term gameplay games.. they could take months out of someones life (Mine included) .. and the issue would be that any attention E: D has gained from the Steam release or any other gains could wither away, is 1.3 really the BIG change to E: D that will help it's long term success that we all hope for (especially for the expansions).

We will have to see .. I hope that E: D keeps my attention in these heady months to come ... ! :)

none of the games you mentioned (except Witcher 3) worth what they cost, i don't se as any kind of competition. In my case... i'm just trading my ass off to elite rank (the only i have not maxed yet) while FD decides what to launch...

I´ll take a look at GTA V maybe. Because I loved the GTA series in the earlier days ... before Elite dangerous:D
But I am also fed up on GTA, hype is over after waiting for the PC release too ridiculously long - seen enough let´s plays, feels like I know the game enough.

*scoffs, powers up mother, throttles up the engines and heads towards the black*

Grand Theft Auto V broke industry sales records and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, earning US$800 million in its first day and US$1 billion in its first three days.

I think the above pretty much says it all... Still, they are obviously different kind of games, although the GTAV developers have always stated that the inspiration came from playing Elite.

ED stole me away from GTA, but as soon as rift support is enabled it will be a fight between finding the time between the two.

I am just hoping that 1.3 lives up to the hype .. I don't want the draw of Batman (So far my favorite game series ever ... yes ... I said it!), GTA or the Witcher to take away a moment of ED, by far my most anticipated game of all time.. but there is power in those titles .. I do not think that new games spell disaster for this game, it's just that FD have made a big deal on how great 1.3 is gonna be, and could set a standard for future releases from FD.. this is the biggest boast they have made since the initial promise of a new Elite game (KS)

I hope it's true.

(All of which is my opinion ... no facts here :) )

Some say that 1.3 or "Powerplay" doesn't wear pants.
Some say he invented the curtain... and that he recently submitted a 20000 pound expenses claim on some gravel...

all we know... he's called the powerplay (INB4 Top Gear Stig Quote)

I'll counter your GTA facts with One Direction. Lots of people buying something doesn't mean it's good. Worth is also totally subjective.

ED 1.3 will need to be the Second Coming of our lord Jesus Christ to drag me way from playing witcher 3. Even then it'll get a run for its money.

Different game though for sure and ED will be waiting and maturing into a few updates down the road into 1.3 so it'll be good to have a break playing something else.

I have no intention or desire to buy any of the game you mention. I still havent finished my first Batman game which was the best one IMO. GTA - havent played that for years and dont see the appeal really unless you are into crime and cars which i am not. And none of those games will be probably very popular a year from now. ED is here to stay hopefully for the next ten years+

Like that. But GTA is far away from being just mediocre.
What I´d like to add: I gave up believing reported selling records or whatever the marketing departments tell us. That goes for movies too. Another kind of sales promotion.

by your agument... if you sell 800 trillion canisters of toxic waste for 1000cr each making it the best-selling item on the whole galaxy, that means it is better than platinum right?

actually the inspiration came from old gangster movies (Dan Houser words), nothing to do with ELITE

Well I think 1 direction sums up everything I hate about the music industry, still you cant deny they are successful, same goes for candy crush. GTA Online is one of the only games I know that is universally loved, the sales figures speak for themselves. I don't even play to blow things up, 10 of us hook up and go off roading or cruising around the mountains.

The freedom is the main appeal of the online part of the game, you are free to do whatever you want. No other game matches that, no denying Rockstar have pulled of a slick piece of work. Took them 2 years from release to do it, you think these forums get bad? You should have seen all the GTA forums for the first 6 months after release.

I see certain aspects of GTA in ED, for a start the whole SOLO/Private/Group modes has been in GTA online since release.

Pretty much everything is subjective, I didn't like Birdman, doesn't make it any less of a film .. the only thing I am saying is that 1.3 is being built up as a major overhaul "The biggest change yet" and it had better be good, or what are the people who are on the sidelines thinking about buying ED (and I know quite a few) going to think if 1.3 is just .. meh.

ohh that one's coming back to bite you :)

What are you on about dude? Dan & Sam have mentioned playing Elite in many interviews, am sure he got inspiration from plenty of things. But he has mentioned the open play of Elite as an inspiration plenty of times

I don't think it is necessary to play only one game at a time. Besides Elite, I am currently in the closed beta for World of Warships and sneak in some Wizard 101 time (with the kids, of course....) I also need to finish the Old World Blues DLC for Fallout New Vegas and wrap up Dragon Age II so that I can start playing Inquisition before all of my kids finish it. I don't get through any one game fast, but I have fun along the way.

Well the fact that GTA for the PC was complete and utter smiles not much attention for that...
