OCULUS RIFT DK2 2560x1440 downscaleing SO Amazing

I'm excited about the new form of VR SLI which supposedly uses 1 card per eye, so you could easily drive 1920x1080 per eye with each GTX 980 for example. At least I think that's how it should work. I mean a single 980 can rock the heck out of 1080p, so if they can have each card dedicated to each eye's display, it would be judder free I would hope.

I'm trying to hold out for the CV1, I really am trying to at least... But ED is truly the "killer app" that VR has needed to push me over that edge. I'm getting a rift, maybe later but it's a done deal. At some point in the near future, I'm going deep into VR.

I have not played Elite Dangerous on a screen once since getting the DK2 at the start of open Beta.

Zod.. I have not played ANY game on a screen since I got my DK2.

I just would like to snap that damned headrest off the couch in my eagle though.

Seriously. If you want to properly experience this game.. scam a go on someone's rift.. or better yet get your own.. ok.. and a HOTAS..

As it stands right now, a GTX 980 will not run Elite at a locked 75fps at 1080p on a DK2.

So no chances of a GTX 970 running a CV1 at a locked 90fps+ at 1440p+... :p

Just registered for the sole purpose of replying to your statement;

I got a 980 and can run my DK2 downsampled from 1440p @ 75+ FPS flawlessly.
( i7 4770k @ 4.8Ghz, 980 runs core 1550 )

However, for CV1, you most likely need to upgrade and/or get a second 980. Also bear in mind that Frontier/Nvidia/ATI might optimize the gamer further.

However, I don't have shadows on MAX when playing on the DK2, but I don't know how much that affects FPS.

Seeing as you're replying to a 7 month old post, if what you and Granite say are both correct, I would say ED has been optimised(and Nvidia drivers)
